I have some money spend and don't know what to get

Hi all

I'm after some recommendations, backed up by good knowledge and some personal experiences if any.
I have about $200 NZD to spend ($163 AUD) on some new parts for my PC, specs below in sig.

These are the items I have considered:

HR-03 GT:
I currently have a Palit 8800GT with a customer cooler that came with the card. It's at stock frequency and its temps are 43° idle and 55° after gaming. The fan is controllable through software on my taskbar; I can manually set or allow dynamic control. The HR-03 GT as we all know is possibly the best GPU cooler available at the moment.

Speakers (5.1 or 7.1)
I currently have some cheap Logitech 2.1 speakers driven by my DS3P P965 on-board Intel HD Audio.
What I have looked at are:
Logitech G51 5.1 Speakers
Logitech X-530 5.1 Speakers
Logitech X-540 5.1 Speakers
Creative Inspire T7900 7.1 Speakers

I don't have a sound card though. I have all of my expansion slots free except for one PCI Express 1x; it's blocked by the dual slot 88000GT cooler.

I've never considered installing a sound card in my PC, after reading a few Atomic articles about on-board vs. dedicated audio never got my full consideration. Depending on a future install of the HR-03GT the last bottom PCI slot may be my only choice if the GPU cooler and fan don't cover all available slots. Otherwise above the GPU I have one PCI Express 1x free.
I have heard good things about the Creative X-fi, Asus Xonar and Auzentech range of cards.

Ear phones:
I've heard good things about the SteelSound 5H V2 headset. Currently my ears get crushed by a free Philips Noise Cancelling Headset that go around the back of the head and clip over the ears. It has three clip setting, large, medium and small. On the large setting pain is educed after 15mins of wearing.

Your recommendations please

Current prices:
I've seen the HR-03 GT for $80 with out fan.
I've seen the Steelsound 5H V2 for $169.
I've seen the Logitech G51 speakers for $149.

No idea what you should buy, but I'd say that you SHOULDN'T buy a creative suondcard.

They have had LOTS of driver issues. The Auzentech cards use the same chipsets and have better driver support. Grab one of those isntead, if you must.

I wouldn't expect very good quality speakers for the amount you're spending, either. 2.0/2.1, maybe, but 5.1/7.1... nuh uh.

Lettuce know what you end up gifting yourself with.

"Grandfather had an accident, he got burnt." "Oh no, how bad?" "Well, they don't fuck around at the crematorium."

Arhhh headphones, if you want a great sounding very comfortable pair of headphones grab a pair of Koss KSC-75 from headphones.com.au
Also a bonus that they ship to NZ for free!
Also the HR-03 GT can be mounted two ways so that might provide some options if you buy a sound card

Whatever you do, don't buy a Creative sound card. In fact, don't buy a Creative anything.

I wouldn't bother with 5.1 for that cost, nor would I bother with 5.1 at all.

Even with a dedicated room I don't think they're that crash hot for gaming, and obviously are completely useless for general use and music.

Why do headphones that cost as much as a large family of slaves exist?
