I want to get a KVM type switch thing for my PC monitor if I can, that will let me use gamecube/ps2/360 through VGA. Anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks

Yes.
You can get component to VGA converters.
IIRC last time we looked at them, they start at around $50 and work their way up.

There's also breakout cables which are just the wiring between component and VGA. Those aren't acceptable unless your monitor will accept component as VGA.

Actually one of the selling points for the monitor i bought (Benq fp241w)
built in switch FTW

Main computer DVI-D
Laptop D-sub
dvd recorder with tv-tuner s-video
xbox HDMI

and i still have composite and component free

The only thing that bugs me is that i have to get up to press the button on my montior i can't use an ir remote :(

Most modern consoles (including OP's) output component and RGB using the same pins, but not at the same time of course! Which one is normally detemined by bridging two of the pins console's AV port.

Thanks for the replies guys, some good info. I have the VGA cable for the 360, but have the old consoles sitting there and no TV anymore and felt like playing some old games. Looks like a new monitor with all the inputs might be on the cards, seems a lot easier without losing image quality and all that jazz :)

This little box will do what you want. Housemate plays his old PSX games using one of these hooked up to his Samsung 22". Works great.
