Master

definition of console?
First game machine I ever bought was a Nintendo Game & Watch called "fire attack" around 1980.
Used to hack or phreak it by jiggling the batteries in & out very quickly until the game started playing in double time or with a high score already there...
Then Commodore 64
Then PS2
Now the Wii, back to Nintendo.

A Mattel Aquarius.

It had cartridge based games, joysticks, and connected to the TV. For that time, despite the fact that it is mostly a PC, I would still consider it a console.

Showing my age here. But my first console didn't accept cartridges, it had about 8 or so games built in such as tennis (pong) squash (pong with both players on the same side of the screen) breakout (upwards pong against blocks), shooting/marksman (one or two player game where you had to make your block cover floating targets and press a button to 'shoot' them) hockey (like pong but had goals on either side that were in from the edge).

Can't remember the rest of the games but they were all pretty damn basic and displayed graphics in amazing black, white and gray (which was good because we only had black and white TVs then) with pixels the size of a baby's head. Man I loved that thing. My next console saw the advent of Space Invaders and PAC Man hitting the homes. Whole family used to play and my dad kicked all our arses. Sad thing is ever since games needed more than one button my dad never played a game again.
