I use one with my Sharp 32" LCD TV - no issues.

Before that I patched it through an A/V receiver, going to a Sony CRT also no issues.

I also use component cables on my PS2 at home and it works fine. (though looks shit on my tv anyway).

Though I have noticed that some don't work, I hooked up a slim ps2 to one of the tellys here and no signal happened. Works fine on the standard AV cable.

I use component cables on my PS2 with no problems.

Apart from the fact it still looks crap.

sorry to hijack, but.....

is there a ps2 to component adapter of some kind that will make use of my exisitng (but not being used right now) component cable?

does it make a big difference? we have a ps2 plugged in to a Bravia X 40" with composite and it looks like arse....

1) no and 2) yes

But even when running the PS2 game in a PS3 via HDMI and upscaling, it still looks like arse.

So is there NO visual benefit of using component over the regular cables that come with your ps2 then?

Or is there a a benefit, but it just looks poo still >_<

well its pal 576i stretched out to 1080p, easly would look crap. What you will notice is that component cables will give you much better colour. Red colour bleeding will be reduced and all round colour will be sharper. Also the image itseft wil be sharper.

Have you tried something else that uses component with your monitor?
That would be the first step, because your monitor may have an issue with the component input and may need to be rma'd -_-
