When Rock Band was released in the US, it cost $169, and came with the game, guitar, microphone and drums. Not a bad deal.
But in Europe/Australia, on May 23? The game won't come in a single bundle. Instead, there's two products available at lauch. One is called the "Instrument Edition", which costs £130/€170. It comes with a guitar, drums, and mic. That's it. No game, if you want the game as well, it'll cost you another £50/€70. That brings the cost of the game and three instruments to £180/€240. Or, USD$378 also known as ridiculously fucking expensive AUD$408.
There is no way in hell I will ever pay that much for a game. EA can take their price gouging and get the fuck out of this country. -----

Damn, I was eagerly awaiting this as an alternative for GH, but not at this price.

In the US the same pack cost AUD$182. So not only do they release it almost 6 months late they want well over twice the price. But wait it gets better as to the May 23rd street date, it's only appearing on 360, with the PS3, Wii and PS2 versions only vaguely scheduled for "Summer". -----

Usually though you'll find that UK/European prices are higher than Australian prices on a dollar for dollar conversion.
No freaking way would EA be so stupid as to try to sell one game for $400 here.
And who in their right mind would want to go do that when they could pick up GHIII and an extra guitar for sub $200? -----

I've been trying to find ANY information on the game.
From one of my sources (not exactly reliable, but one of the better ones) the game isn't being released in Australia until September.
This is so they can:
* Iron out the bugs
* Mass produce it to meet market demand
If they keep us in the dark any longer there won't be much demand for the game. -----

EA doesn't know how much or when yet. There's a lot of issues with the release over here. Obviously.
So any information available now is not reliable. -----

Not possible, from what i've read.
Apparently rockband (and ex-GH) developers made a patch so the GH guitars work with Rock Band, then Activision cracked the shits, got the patch blocked, and said something like "roar, this is our technology, people shouldn't use it outside of GH3".
That's for the GH3 guitar, anyway.
I'd go find the article i read about it, but cbf.
