I need to go purchase this. This might drive me to do my PDR now... then run to JB HiFi.

Awesome game.

Definitely worth shelling the cash out for it.

My first impression was pretty negative it didn't last too long

I give it an 8/10

I think you can buy it for as little as $74 at Big W

Looks interesting, but I still feel burnt from when Black & White didn't deliver what I'd been dreaming in my wishful youth. You bastards!

Heh, that has to be the best analogy of spore i've heard in a while; Only thing i ever disliked about Black and White was that Black and White 2 didn't have multi-player. =(

I just wish it wasn't crippled with horrendous copy protection, that seems to only affect legitimate purchasers...

You really don't need a beastly rig to play the game, but to play on high settings I use my work PC with a X2 4800+ (don't laugh!), and a 9800GTX.

It should run ok on cards roughly equal to a 7600GT, though you will have to turn all the settings down, and most likely the resolution too :)

Uh-huh, this is the full game, that essentially uses the created creatures ;)

OK I'm really not sure about this game... it sounds really ambitious, and I used to love early SimCity titles, and Sims had its moments, AND I got a kick out of the Creature Creator, but I'm not sure I'll like the full game.

The first phase sounds fun enough, as does the second, but then I'm worried... RTS games I usually lose interest after getting my arse handed to me the first time or two (after spending hours building up what I thought was an awesome mega army), and resource management titles always sound totally boring (accounting, economics, business etc bore me rigid - I'd never do them for a job so I sure as shit wouldn't do it for 'fun'); even when that aspect plays a role in other games (trading at Markets in Age of Mythology etc), I totally ignore it, and would probably rather get cash etc via cheats than do all that trading and selling stuff.

All those Civ, RoN etc - never played 'em, so maybe I'm missing out, but they just look WAY too complicated, or COMPLEX should I say, for me... I don't like piss-easy games, but once they start getting SO complex in their nature, my brain shuts down (like when the wife tries to explain her day at the accounting office).

Now I know it's obviously not as complicated as real-world disciplines like that, but considering my quick loss of interest in RTS titles, and TOTAL lack of interest in anything to do with resource management, is Spore still worth it?

Shame there's no demo...

I run it on my 8800GT Q6600 and 2Gig Ram everything at full at full 22" res not a frame rate drop that i can see.
The game is a mixed bag. I liked creature stage but i don't know how many times i could play it. Same with Cell stage. Tribal and Civ stage feel a little empty compared with dedicated RTS games which can be expected i guess. Space stage seems like it could go on forever but it may get repetitive. If you don't like the creative side of the game, pretty much half the game is wasted on you, which may break the game for some people.
