TFTD is essentially a horribly coloured version of UFO. There isn't much different bar the horrible, horrible colour scheme.

Different (and some badly unbalanced) aliens
New (broken) tech tree
Increased (absurdly in the higher levels) difficulty
Weapons that are only useful underwater

TFTD is harder, and not in fun ways.

Yeah, it's amazing how much a bad colour palate can ruin other aspects of the game at a basic design level.

*cough*

You need to go back and play the two games if you genuinely think that a palette swap is the only difference.

Lobstermen.
Two stage Terror Missions.
Stupid ammo counts.
Crappier starting stats.

To name a few of the horrors.

I remember seeing an ad for X-com interceptor in the back of an old PCPP game guide mag and thinking "that looks so cool" but Xcom was never a series i played. just like myst, it never came up when i was gaming.

Yeah, those crummy colours sure did make things seem pretty bad.

I think those crummy colours gave you brain damage.

That's ironic, considering how long it takes you to get a joke.

Tell you what, explain the exact same thing again and I'll give you the joke again.

Maybe it'll click. Third time's a charm.

Once you have laser rifles in X-Com... it's game over.

XBL: tangents

Dear Diary, a creepy giant stared at me today and I didn't like it as much as I thought I would.
