Hmm. i tried it out.

I remember the game being alot, less pixelated.. Also, it seems so arcadey by today's standards. I thought it was friggin intense back in the day. Still fun though.

Ahh Red Alert, the sound of those Tesla Coils charging and then zapping hapless enemy guard dogs charging in to eat my carefully placed 'technician bait' out the front of the base was forever etched into my brain by this game - and it's still awesome fun to boot!! :p

I was somewhat scumbaggish when it came to playing against my friend.

I would send the occassional light tank or group of apc to keep his front on the defense - soaking up turret & tesla coil fire..

All while I had Tanya in a hovercraft going around the back - bombing all his stuff at the back of his base where had no turrets. It was funny cause this worked like 4-5 times before he worked out he should have some defense at the back of his base....

LOL! I was like that except I sent usually a buggy to see then run whilst another division of light tanks took out his base :P

I remember playing the demo of this game again and again. I used to love having small groups of crack teams that I would try and win the level with just them.

RA2 is still one of my favourite games. its going to be bundled for free with RA3, so either wait it out, or get one of the collectors pack thingos. theres one that goes for around $40 that has RA2, its expansion, renegade, tiberian sun, and its expansion.

Believe it or not: Virtuoson and I just finished playing all of Red Alert 1 & 2 and their expansion packs, over the past couple of months.

They were - still are - awesome games. I enjoyed them just as much second time around.

In fact, playing them again, I realised how C&C lost some of its unique ideas in the more recent games. (Things like special units, one-off buildings with special bonuses, and non-standard missions.)

I hope RA3 brings some of that, plus the cool cut scenes, back to the mix.

I came. I saw. I did not concur.
