I know of a guy who will piss in a bottle rather than leaving a game, when i spoke to someone else about it he laughed and said that's nothing, some people dont eat for days and others have died, WTF he is only taking the piss(pun intended) isn't he?, is it addictive and has someone died?

Yeah I think there was a story about a young child dying from starvation or something?

Though, if it was a young child, I'd call that neglect from the parents side, as they should have put their foot down.

yes but only retards would be addicted that much.

Let's face it, if they can't measure the relative importance of eating/sleeping and playing a game then the human gene pool is well rid of them.

The game is no more addictive than most other MMO's. It's individuals that have addictive personalities. You have to recognise that trait in yourself and steer yourself away from substances and or situations that could be addicting. Like drugs, gambling, mmo's, etc.

People can get addicted to just about anything, but not in a clinical medical sense.

People do odd things to play WoW, and it certainly would look like addiction to layman.

On completely unrelated news, what cynical human-hating cults would you recommend, OX?

Of course it's addictive. It - and every other subscription based MMO - is built from the ground up to be this way.

When the producer/publisher relies on revenue not from the initial purchase but the ongoing fees, it's important to keep the person as hooked to the grind as possible.

It is what it is.

Oh my God people dying from WoW is enough. But online funerals come on. Can't they pickup and go to the actual funeral instead of staying in there dark bedrooms beind a computer screen. That is the height of MMO addiction in my opinion and the loss of the line between Reality and Virtual.

Shit, if people die from WoW more often one would be inclined to make a lucritive practice from this, gear up Priest and get them to pay you to hold a funeral.

Online funerals make perfect sense in regards to the game. You form friendships in game with people you don't know in real world. If you die... and they've been told... it's not like they're going to fly across the globe or country to see your wake. That's just retarded to assume that. They know you in a specific medium, they mourn your loss within that medium.

It's not brain surgery...

You're totally right. Everyone who has stayed up late to play a game should just kill themselves to save you the insult.

everything he told you is true.

and the reason MMO's feel adictive, is it takes on a second life for you. and how would you like to take a break from your life? especially if this 'new life' seems better than your 'other (real) life'.

thats the draw. Some people are weak in that they try to replace one with the other. addiciton to the highest level there.

I think I'm addicted to Forums.

I stay up late, I get on when I say I wont. I get on sometimes and check them and end up late for work. I do it way to much..

and games are just plain fun. When I'm having a bad day I just LOVE to come home and kill some fuckers in Counter-strike or Crysis.. go blow some shit up. but I'm not loosin my dinner over a game..!

I couldn't really see how it was addictive. Played the trial once, absolute boring to me - kill 10 of this enemy, kill 15 of another, etc (although I'm sure it gets better than that ..)

CS:S was an addiction for me though. Played everyday for an hour or so and that adds up. That's like 15 full days a year - so I uninstalled that sucker.
