CoD4 Steam price doubles overnight

I was just going to buy it from steam. WTF, bunch of tight bastards.
Whats the point of digital distribution, only to save on the cost of dvd, case, manuals. Do the yank distributors not feel undercut too? Why no price increase? Is it because the market there wouldn't tolerate blatant price gouging.

Fuckers.

Edit: JB is selling the game for $89 lol

From Steam its AU$101.213 + Foreign Currency Conversion Fee of $1.53 (St.George bank) = AU102.74

UNREAL.

Has anyone noticed that this now has no price on Steam, and is not available to buy, but is still listed?

I guess they've halted Steam distribution to Australian customers.

I remember seeing STALKER splattered all over Steam, but not being able to buy it or get to the description page for it. I think that was something to do with Aussies, but I can't be sure.

Yeh, THQ or something wouldnt sell to Australians a few weeks after they released their games on steam

I remember my mate bought COH on steam, but now cant buy the expansion for it unless he gets it from a shop, and apparantly retail wont work with digital versions, how silly is that?

Yeah this is a bit different then when they removed the THQ games, they showed on the spash (home page) then when you click on it it would only take you to the all games list, this however still brings up the page for the game just no price or option to buy.

Hopefully no one has paid this exorbitant amount for this and that has prompted them to reconsider the pricing, or maybe it has something to the new laws announced yesterday on price fixing?

Steam just ran out of its allotment of keys. Activision is generating more now.

I wish it'd been something more exciting, but them's the breaks.

No idea, I personally havent checked it out myself, just going by what I've been told, but also because steam has automatic updates, my mate HAD TO install the 1.7gb patch for COH, and he cant play the game anymore anyway.

That's what Steam backup is for dude.
I actually avoided most of the download by starting the download till the folder was created then copying a mates DVD install in to the relevant folder from over the lan.
restarted steam a few times and bingo CoD4 installed and working.

Yeh, but I highly doubt he wants to backup corrupted data, not sure if he even tried to validate it to be honest.

All I know is he installed the patch for compatability with the expansion and then couldnt play any multi or singleplayer games.
