http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/34036/BioShock-Installs-Upped-to-Five-Per-Copy Starting immediately, we will be upping the activation count to a 5 by 5 plan. We will be raising the maximum amount of computers a user can have BioShock installed on simultaneously from 2 to 5, and allowing a user to reinstall BioShock on each of those computers from 3 times to 5 times. Also, we have in the works a revoke tool which you will be able to run on your machine if you want to free up that key and move it to to another computer (this works very much like Steam or iTunes system). We are also working with SecuROM and 2K customer service, so that when you do need to call in support problems, you get answers to your questions faster, without much waiting or being bounced around. SecuROM has been given much more autonomy to help fix your problems quickly and effectively. I am personally sorry for anyone who got bounced around in the past couple days (I even think I contributed to this problem) and we're going to make sure that does not happen in the future. http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/34037/True-Widescreen-Support-for-BioShock-Pledged And as for widescreen, we also want to say we completely understand a user's desire to augment their FOV. BioShock is a harrowing experience, but we don't want anyone to feel limited (or motion sick!). So we are in the process of working on an official PC patch to give widescreen PC users a choice to expand their horizontal FOV, and are investigating creating a similar update for the 360. Don't say 2K aren't listening. Such a breath of frEAsh air don't you think ;) ----- Playstation Network: tangents 360 Gamertag: tangents Wii Code: 3716 3034 1296 5055 Quote by The End I'd wager that the 'having a girlfriend' part isn't very atomic at all

Hey, as long as it runs on 1680 x 1050, I'm cheering. I'm a bit concerned about the "limited" number of times you can install the game on the one PC though. Who cares how many times I install it? As long as it remains on the one PC, they shouldn't give a damn. ----- * Soccer is the world game. True Football. No contest. Accept it! * I will sort you out, down to a T ! * Hominidal tendencies? Who cares how many times I install it? As long as it remains on the one PC, they shouldn't give a damn. Yeah, I mean I had to reformat the other day because I stuffed up. I guess that would mean one of my activations would be gone. However I also heard that 2K (or securom) support is quite good and they'll reset it for you. I had to convince this indian dude on the phone the other day that the copy of Vista I was using was mine. With Vista you're allowed ONE installation, so I guess using the same logic with games now would lend itself to fewer pirated copies. Meh, it's a small price to pay for such a brilliant game. ----- Playstation Network: tangents 360 Gamertag: tangents Wii Code: 3716 3034 1296 5055 Quote by The End I'd wager that the 'having a girlfriend' part isn't very atomic at all

Interesting authentication method... To me that almost encourages piracy as you can legally have it installed on 5 computers simultaneously. If you are limited to 5 reinstalls though, what's the deal when you use those 5 up? Do you just have to call to get the game authenticated or are you locked out for an (in)definite amount of time? With the internet available to many more people today than it has been in the past it's going to be interesting to see where all these authentication methods take us in the future, and how much of a pain it's going to be for those who don't have the internet at home. -----

Thanks "confined", that was just what i was thinking... when i played Half life 2 i had to wait 6 months and get a steam patch to get going on my real copy.... but i guess it's a way to try and stop piracy... the thing i would do is, work harder on a for of rightprotecting a DVD, so that you can't play at all without a copy in the drive and you can't make a copy of the dvd. if the game disk is dead, then you have a 5$ fee to get a new one from the developer, and you send in the old damaged copy.. anyways just a idea... ----- HEY... I am so glad I got my copy via steam. I pressed the button to finish downloading it the day it was released, waited and hour or so for it to finish downloading and then started playing. No hassles. It just works. Steam activation is the way to go, none of this hunting for the disk to put in the drive, I still prefer to buy the box product but there is nothing better then putting in the install CD an activation key, and then put the CD away on a shelf, and just fire it up anytime you want to play! ^_^ ----- ---<) (>---

im sure after a certain period of time, eg 1 year, a patch will be released that removes/bypasses the cdkey and activation. if not, what happens in 3 years time when the activation servers are taken offline and you cant install your 'good ol bioshock'. ----- Yo Ho! Kommando, 2K has stated that at some point in the future, they will release a patch that gets rid of the activation altogether (to protect from scenarios where the company managing the activation servers dies.) ----- "You'll be wearing Nikes, bopping to Britney Spears, and taping Survivor in no time.
