In this case, it's Apple's fault - not Google's! :)
Should be fixed next release with newer WebKit.

The idea that people will support a product (whether free or not) based on the "betterment" of the many, is always going to be outweighed by ANY product that offers something better than what they are currently using.

If Googles Chrome turns out to be a better than Firefox, Opera and the rest, then people will switch faster than you can say "Best is better" even if it turns out to be the death of the competition, and the consequences that follow.

Its like the mad rush for iPhone. Its a phone that 99% of people will use for two things, answer calls and make calls.
99% of people will have a play with the bells and whistles for a few days, and then its just a phone like any other - but that wont stop the masses buying it for its awesome (unused) features.

The big boys in the corporate world not only know this mind set, they manipulated and created it through advertisement.

Why do the big boys spend those millions and millions of dollars on advertisement?

Because it works!

Nah it wont be the death of the open source competition, I think this is more of a worry for MS IE.

FF, Safari, Opera will just have to fight for market share like they always have and that is a good thing.

Its the incumbent monopolith that is at most risk, If chrome is faster safer and has plenty of doohikys and thingamyjigs (apps and services) that work properly then, IE will loose a lot of market share to Chrome.

Chrome has already surpassed opera but most new users are coming from IE not FF

It's a beta product, it shouldn't be used for anything requiring high security anyway. And if you're browsing sites likely to be effected by these problems, you should have other security measures in place.

If it gets past the browser, it should still be caught by anti-malware software.

I've moved over to Chrome.

I don't use extensions in FireFox, and Opera has trouble rendering some pages.
I've been a fan of Safari on Windows, but its just too slow and tacky looking.

Chrome is fast (both start-up and use), and simple. Its all that I need.

This is why I'm using it :)

Loving the Google Gears integration as well.

I look forward to the Linux release.

For my daily browsing, it will easily replace opera.

For my uni work though, I need firefox. I use the Zotero extension for research and referencing. I couldn't live without it.
