Easy, especially if you're already paying for a Foxtel subscription. All you need to do is have a cable going from your Foxtel box to the input on your graphics card/TV card.

What's illegal about doing that? Nothing that I know of.

We are toying with the idea of running a link from our neighbours box to our house, neighbours cool with it!

The problem there is that you've gotta watch what they're watching. If you were to do a deal with your neighbours where they ordered another Foxtel STB, you bought a dish from somewhere and offered to pay half the cost of the subscription, you'd both be coming out on top.

I know a bloke who did this with his father, both on the opposite sides of town.

Seen that done before, but it's also not really legal. I know a guy who asked Foxtel if he could do something like that in a holiday caravan, basically pay for a second box that would only end up being used once a year, the short answer was no, the longer answer was "you can't do that". In the end he got a second box installed at home (and payed for it) then took it with him when he went on holidays. Sure it meant he had to put up a dish at the caravan park, but it always worked fine.
