I don't understand what the point is in a web OS.
You need an OS to run a browser anyway (well for the moment). -----

I think it is for "web storage/portable desktop".
Instead of having files on your computer, all is stored on servers so you can access files anywhere in the world (with net access..) -----

What about TightVNC, ssh, RDP or anything else. You can put these on a USB drive and take them with you.
They you don't have to pay extra for it (above your net access). -----

Bandwidth... A HTML-embedded AJAX application requires significantly less bandwidth than VNC or RDP.
