Ok so i've posted this up in the displays section but i am unsure whether its a monitor or more likely a graphics card problem. So i've brought it to the troubleshooting section.

Hope you can help. It would be greatly appreciated:

Hi all,

For the last few months i have been running a dual monitor setup with my 2900xt, 22" Chimei and a 22" BenQ.

Last night i had a lan and so took my comp downstairs with only my benq to play. I played the computer off my monitor and i also at one point hooked it up to our tv to watch a movie. After taking it back upstairs this morning (comp was running fine) I've now ecountered a problem when trying to run both monitors. I can run a single monitor from either HDMI port with either cable but as soon as i plug in a second monitor the main image transfers to the BenQ leaving my Chimei with a 'no signal' message.

When i enter into the ATI catalyst and try to activate the other monitor i get no response. Also when i go into the windows display settings i can select extend but i get no response and just have that little 800x600 not detected type monitor.

Thanks in advance for any feedback. This is killing me!!!!

Ok not to familiar with the Catalyst control centre so where could i find this info? :S

Also tried reinstalling the ATI drivers with no success.

Also been doing a fair bit of googling with little success.

basically, catalyst allows the use of 2 monitors and a TV but if memory serves me, it doesnt allow all 3 at the same time, which means that if you had it connected to a TV, one of the monitors had to be disconnected. though not physically.

I havent used the ATI control centre for ages now but if it is the same, there should be a display manager tab. if not, just trying to find a menu that says TV or something or rather on it.

since you are using an ATI card, i suggest you have a look at the control center and learn how to use it.
