Hey lads -

I am about to undertake a slight upgrade and rebuild, I am looking at changing my mobo and also my case (Silverstone TJ10, yes I am trying to sell it lol) I am considering going with something smaller just a little uncertain what to go with, the Silverstone is a nice case but I find it a little to bulky, I would be happy to go with something bigger though if it wasn't ask bulky if you get what I mean lol. The case is the only thing holding me back, bah! lol so any advice would be great. :)

Well depends what you are using for....Do you go to lans? Do you want to go SLI to Crossfire?

A couple of choices. Coolermaster CM690 / Antec P182 / A Lian Li Case

if you're getting a new mobo, get a mATX one and get a cube case of some kind.

If you want to save space and want a 'full size system' get a desktop case and put it under your monitor.

my next one will be like this, for memorys sake. everyone used to have one like this.

check the length of your video card. A full sized video card will struggle to fit in a lot of cube cases most noticeably shuttles of the smaller variety, and also the Sugos.

A HD4870 will hit the hard drive cage in a sugo SGO1 and you cant get around that without some case moding

I love my lan cases, once you go to one you'll never go back to a full sized case but with the length of the current video cards it does become a bit of an issue

without knowing whether you've got an intel/amd setup I can't make motherboard recommendations but here's one I was looking at

Thats the beauty of the THERMALTAKE LAN BOX. it fits normal ATX motherboards AFAIK.

so using MATX means lots of room.

Thanks for the advice guys, what I mainly seem to be struggling with at the moment is finding a good mid tower case though :( lol

only advice i can give you is to buy a case that will fit your vid card. before i upgraded to the 8800gts some time last year, the 7950gt i had left little room for me to work with, for adding HDDs, and now with the 8800gts in there, there is almost none at all. to remove or add said HDDs, i have to remove the card just to get it out.

unless, you arent going to fiddle around with your case, as in add/remove/replace stuff in it on a regular basis, then a smaller case isnt a problem, but if your going to do so, then a larger case is the go, no matter how bulky you think it is.

Hmm, the Tempest has a few negative points. I really am uncertain what to go with lol. I just want something well sized, cool and well built.

Well had you investigated the CM690 (which is the suggestion I posted a while back) then your search would be over!
