That's what I was wondering, maybe he was referring to the 1st reply?

So:

Q9550
ASUS P5Q Deluxe
ATi 4870x2 2gb
OCZ Platinum Kit 2x(2x2GB DDR2-1066) 8GB
Auzentech X-Plosion 7.1 Cinema
ASUS VW222U 2ms 22"
Pioneer DVR-216BK
Nocturna NH-U12P /NH-C12P CPU Cooler
Thermaltake Armor+ (Had good experience with these)

Query:
Do I REALLY need a 800W PSU for this system, it seems a bit much, my 6000+ x2, 8800GT, M3A32-MVP etc (see sig) are running off a 430W PSU. I'm looking to cut costs in certain areas, where going down doesn't affect performance.

I was thinking about 2x 500GB hard drives, since it's slightly cheaper and I thought the 500GB drives were 7200.11 while the 1TB drives were still 7200.10, also, hardware charts have shown a somewhat close speed between them.

Also: Keyboard/Mouse, G15 / G9?

Also, remember RAM above 3gb is wated unless you're running a 64bit OS.

and that GENERIC ram is just as good as brand name stuff.

if your not doing much overclocking corsair 620w should be fine but if you are overclocking heavily corsair 750w would be preferable shame msy didnt have much in the way of good value psu last i looked

if you want to save some cash on the hdd go the 640g models ~$90 as they are much faster than any other drives around that size

the samsung 1tb and new wd black 1tb are much faster than 500g drives due to them using 3x333g platters the 640g drives use two of these platters so are much the same speed
all other drives use lower density platters which gives them slower transfer speeds

you can save some more cash by getting a cheaper mb like gigabyte p45 ~$150
maybe a e8600 instead of the quad depends how long you intend to keep it

Well, since it's a Q9550, I intend to do a fair overclock on it for my friend, looking to maximize performance so I'll switch up to a 1TB Seagate. I tried using WD in the past, but didn't have a good run with their drives, but Seagate have always proved to be quite solid for me.

MSY Indeed has bugger all in the way of PSU's, is there anything off their price list you could even slightly recommend? Or would it be best just to shop around for the corsair 750w PSU?

all seagate drives are currently a fair bit slower
as for problems with wd there is plenty of people that feel the same way about seagate or samsung they all make some bad batches of hdd its mostly just a matter of bad luck if you get a dud
if you wish to stick with seagate though thats your choice

if your looking to overclock a bit and by your case and gpu choice im guessing a little noise isnt a problem then you may want to look at theremalright ultra 120 extreme with a scythe 1900rpm s-flex or a kaze 2000rpm as it will handle the overclocked quad better
