Hey all :)

Just wondering if you have a preference in set ups between the 2 GPU cards 8800 GTS 320 and two 8600 GT 256 in SLI mode.

I can see the SLI would be pretty good over the single 8800 GTS but not 100% convinced that I would be best off using it?

anyway I have all the cards in question it's a matter of what would work best I guess, and hope to pick some of your brains out there regarding this:)

thank you

Yeah the 8800GTS is heaps better than 2 x 8600GT's. However depending on the price, you might get a better card for the same price as the price you are getting the 8800GTS.

Thanks Tech-Kid ;-)

I have the cards already so no real issue with costs as they are from recycled PCs.

I do have a computer with 2 X 7600 GT cards but I think there is no huge improvement between these and the 8600 cards ?

To be honest, the difference between the 7600GT and 8600GT wasn't all that significant. I was going to get 8600GT but got the 8800GS instead. The 8800GTS 320 is a good card still.

Ok...so looks like the 8800 GTS 320 will be better than the 8600 GT X2 in SLI...kind of what I was thinking anyway but thank you for reaffirming this for me.

I have run those exact cards in sli and they perform very closely to one 8800gts, but not as good I am afraid. But if you have a clear side case then you could go for bling factor?

But the 8800gts will outperform those two in sli everytime.

I have a 8800gts 320 also,at one stage i was thinking about running it in sli,but with the new demanding games that are out im not sure it would perform that much better then 1 card @ 1920x1200.
