Hi could you guys recommend a good motherboard from this list

Asustek M2V-TVM VIA K8M890
Foxconn K8M890M2MA-RS2H VIA K8M890
Asustek M2V VIA K8T890 ATX
ASRock AM2NF6G-VSTA nForce GeForce 6100
Microstar K9VGM-V VIA K8M890
Asustek M2N MX nForce 430 + GeForce 6100m
Foxconn 6100M2MA-RS2H, nForce410
ECS C51GM-M nForce 410 mATX
Asustek M2NPV MX nForce 430
Gigabyte GA-M61VME-S2, nForce 400,
ASRock AM2V890-VSTA VIA K8T890
Gigabyte GA-M51GM-S2G Socket AM2 nForce430
Gigabyte GA-M61PM-S2, nForce430+6100,
Microstar K9N Neo-F Socket AM2 nVidia nForce 550
Asustek M2NPV-VM Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 430
Asustek M2N, nForce 430
Asustek M2NBP-VM CSM, nForce 430B
Microstar K9NU NEO-V nVidia ULi M1697
Gigabyte GA-M55Plus-S3G nVIDIA C51G+430
Gigabyte GA-M51G-S2G nForce C51G
Microstar K9NGM-L, nForce 410
Gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4 nForce4 SLI
Microstar K9NGM2 nForce 430
Sapphire Pure Element
Asustek M2N4-SLI Nforce4 SLI

Does an Nforce 4 come with a in built graphics card?

What is the difference between both socket types? Besides Am2 being newer? Are they better?

Would a 3800+ dual core be much slower than a core duo E6600? I cant really justify spending twice the money for a cpu that wont be twice as fast.

cheers

Wow, no intention to be a nark but you need to go do some research.

CPU sockets - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_socket
CPU's - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cpu
nForce 4 - http://www.nvidia.com/page/nforce4_family.html

Go have a read of that and come back. Not giving you the brush or anything but you cannot except us to do all the work for you, and you will feel a lot more empowered when you know some of this stuff. Fair enough?

Well these are all am 2 motherboards, so they well all be compatable with my cpu I am planning to by, my question still remains which in the selected list would be a recommended buy.

That's way too long a list to select from...by the look of some of the chipsets, they seem to be oldish AM2 motherboards...(the nForce 4*0 chipset for example).

I do however own an earlier revision of the Gigabyte GA-M55Plus-S3G and have been happy with it. I'd be having a closer look at some of the Asus or Gigabyte motherboards you've got listed if you *must* select from that list. They all use similar chipsets judging from the info you've given, so I suppose it's up to you to decide what feature set you want out of the motherboard.

Knowing the sort of work the computer you're building will be doing (as well as a price range) wouldn't go astray either, in case there are better motherboards that we can recommend that aren't on the list.

cant answer mobo q, but check this out for CPU Comparison

http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu.html?modelx=33&model1=432&model2=480&chart=174

a quick look shows the e6600 about 10-15% faster in some games, but in more CPU intensive tasks such as media conversion and the like its up tp 50% faster. Atleast you know with Conroe's that 775 socket set will be around for a lot longer than X2's.

And still they are barely able to get the full potential out of 8800's.

These are crazy times!

If you want AMD, and integrated video, maybe 'Gigabyte GA-M61PM-S2, nForce430+6100'

Though you will benefit greatly if you do the research as suggested, if the budget allows start again and go with a Intel based system and use a E6400 cpu or the cheaper E4300 if you are planning to overclock.

Ok done some research and I suppose I should get a intel core duo.

Would a 6300 be suffice? Could I overclock it to E6600 Speeds?

I am using the computer for 3d Aniamtion, Compositing, Looking at one of the benchmark tests it was literally %50 faster render times.

What would be a good motherboard for features ability to o/c, and on a budget?

Thanks alot.

apparently the Asus http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=1&model=1459&l1=3&l2=11&l3=397
to be had from $340+

is well featured and relatively well priced for a 680i mobo.

maybe if we had an idea of your budget for this upgrade/new pc we would be able to help more and suggest relevant CPU/mobo/RAM combo to suit.

The Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 motherboard seems to be one of the better for overclocking and such. More info here:
http://tinyurl.com/ydkz6q
Depending on what you call budget, they can be had for ~$220 or so.

Alternatively, there's the Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 motherboard ( http://tinyurl.com/yy8cqk ) which is very similar for $40ish less.

I've been a big fan of Gigabyte for a few years now, but anyone else that has any opinions of any Asus boards would also be worth considering.

by budget I mean under $200, I would like a board that comes with an inbuilt graphics card.

Here's a version of the DS3 with onboard graphics if you really must, http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?id=2058&cid=6&pg=10.

However, I really can't say that these will overclock as well as the proper DS3. If I were you I would seriosuly drop that onboard gfx requirement.
