Looking for a camcorder

Okay, Im doing some research for a friend who wants a Camcorder, preferably HDD or Flash as its going to be used when travelling and the tapes just arent an option, he had asked about DVD to begin with but due to the size we both agreed that it would be best to stick with HDD or a flash Camcorder.. The big thing he wants though is one that offers an AV- input as he wants to connect it up to a second camera at times during the journey.

So far the only one I can find is a JVC Camcorder, the "GZ-MG730".

Are there any other models people are aware of that would suit his needs and/or what are your opinions on the one mentioned..

Any help is appreciated..

Why does he need to connect a second camera to it?

Id recommend importing the Red Scarlet when it comes out, it'll be THE handicam/handheld video camera, its not too far off.

He wants to hook a second camera up to the front of his bike for part of his journey.

so why does he want to re-record that onto the first camera?... you could just load it on the computer and cut it into the first video, thats the whole idea...

people keep saying the red scarlet will cost $3,000

Basically this is what he is going to be doing

he is going on a motorbike trip, something along the 20,000k mark. Th3e idea he had was to have the camera safely mounted in the bike that can also be used along the journey but with a second external lens/camera, like a button cam type setup mounted on the front of the bike to capture the journey, if possible he wants to use the mic as well

Its a very unique kind of request, hence the thread.

He'll need the camera before the red scarlett is released, he's looking to purchase this on the market now.

I dont think he's thought it through too well, the's going to need broadcast quality equipment and I dont think he realises that..

I've never had a hard disk based camera, but will it hold up to the shake of being on a motorcycle? Tape might be his best option here.
