The best thing to do would be to start simple. Begin with a kit lense or two (Covering the range from 18mm to 200mm is a good start), as it'll save you a few dollars when they're coupled with the body.

Starting simple would allow you to discover the shortcomings of the basic glass, and to learn for yourself what might possibly help you. And as a bonus, there are many simple accessories which can enhance the ability of the kit glass, allowing you to try out a number of things without having to splash out large money on a new lense.

Running out and splashing out on other people's recommendations isn't the wisest of methods in my opinion. You may find that some particular lenses aren't what you're after, or you might not even have that much interest in doing that particular "type" of photography. That, and I personally consider it much more rewarding to work out what you require for yourself.

Better equipment does not necessarily make a better photographer, but learning on the basics will allow you to appreciate upgrades all the more.

What im excited about is that the k200d supports HDR on the run however some concern is raised that there is a reduction in sharpnes.

You dont need in camera HDR lol, completely unnecessary, it's just a bell and/or whistle.

That being said, best results are obtained on a tripod, so no alignment or cropping should occur.
