Dreamhost. They're okay, though I don't recommend them.

Uh what?
You mean it doesn't have a database?
Or it doesn't have PHP?
Or it does, but not the vendor/version you need? :|

Hostmonster are pretty great value for money, and good reliability, unless you actually have to speak to them. Damn robots.

I was trying to say that he originally stated that they don't support CMS. This is untrue, they just don't support his.

I'm with Jumba(.com.au), but there are cheaper alternatives for aussie based hosting. I've always got awesome support from them though so I'll stay there for a while.

XHostSolutions.com.au by far have the best managed dedicated server plans I've ever had to deal with. Very very good support.

im with http://www.digitalpacific.com.au/ on a business plan.

20 bucks for my domain, 20 bucks a month for 2 gig space and 20 gig transfer.

top plan is 45 a month, and nets you 15 gig storage, and 100 gig transfer per month.

all plans have (apparently) unlimited emails and subdomains, but in practice they limit both to 100 each (who the fuck would need more than 100 subdomains?)

What? You are answering his question on the best host with a company you don't recommend?

Read the question again: "just wanted to see who everyone is using?"
I should probably change that to "I don't recommend them to anyone who doesn't understand the conditions with which the hosting is provided." because they're actually good, but have a few clauses they don't disclose straight away.

Like the fact that although you've got "unlimited" databases etc, your account will be cut off if you use more than your designated amount of CPU. Or something like that.
It's standard amongst the "OMG UNLIMITED!" hosts, but most people completely overlook it, and I feel it warrants some attention.

sounds like the crap bluehost were trying to peddel to me a month ago.

AboodY: so does that meen i could make the next youtube (consuming gigs and gigs of bandwidth and hard drive space) and still only pay the $6.95/month?

Jordan H: You can use as much bandwidth as you want. but if you think you can stream video on are servers your wrong. we will alow media onto the server but you will need to embed it into the pages .

AboodY: with a simple php script? so i cant use blue host as a offsite data storage facility?

Jordan H: NO

You kept that discussion from a month ago?

I dont feel that anything is prevented from being disclosed, it is all right there in the T&C for any hosting company. If people want to get sucked in by advertising, it's their loss.

Part of the inhumanity of the computer is that, once it is competently programmed and working smoothly, it is completely honest.
