The Melbourne office (primarily, but others maybe) of the company I work for is after HTML/ CSS people with some experience for full-time work.

Job involves:
- PSD -> Web form
- UI design

We have a design department which is responsible for doing the PSD concepts but we're short on people who can turn them into a HTML/ CSS for developers to use.

Knowledge of functional languages (such as Java, PHP or ASP.NET) would be valuable, particularly if you know the limitations of their generated HTML (particularly in the case of ASP.NET).

We're a reasonable size business (200+ employees) with offices in Melb, Syd, Brisbane and Shanghai. Primarily we want to put on people in Melbourne but if you're in the other locations and have the qualifications I can't see why they wouldn't be swayed.

I would be interested, if the job's still going in 6 weeks.

Don't like those odds though.

I've spoken to HR and it appears I was some-what miss informed about what we're looking for. We're after people with the following:

- Melbourne or Sydney location
- Strong UI (CSS/ HTML/ JavaScript)
- Good Java knowledge

We have 2 very large clients which we have a lot of work coming up for and which uses a Java base, so we're after people who can do a UI and then assist/ implement it using Java itself.

Sorry for the confusion

So let me get this right, you have web designers that just do the photoshop mockups but dont code anything?

Why not hire people that can design and are able to do XHTML/CSS aswell... or am I reading it wrong?

I do both.... which gives me a thought... drop one designer and one front end developer and you could hire 1 for the price of 2 ;D

Sometimes its better and more cost effective to "divide and conquer", as opposed to having a "jack of all trades".

moo - we do a lot of creative-only work as well as web pages (banners, flash, etc). This is what our creative department is targeted for, with a UI team for the web front ends
