Hey guys,

This was my fist ever modelling assignment I set out to do.
All this was done in 3ds Max 5.

I took the Mazda RX8 body shape and kinda added my own style to it. This was originally created for one of my uni assignments which i got a HD for! :D

Everything you see in the final render I created myslef :D

Please let us know what you think of it!

Don't like the Perlin Marble paintjob, or the way it's (too) shiny.

But the actual model?
Looks awesome. Kinda helps that I like the RX8 ;)

Can we get a wireframe render of the same?
And some info about how long it took to make, number of polys?

Maybe a clay render would do more justice =P
I'm with Charcoal and don't really like the textures you've used, but the model seems to be pretty decent.

I like the model just not sold on the paintjob but then I guess that's just personal preference.

HAHA, cheers guys!
Yeah like i thought would be my main downfall was!
Basically I had to finish off the model quickly (and as you all know, you cant rush art) so I had to quickly choose a material for the RX8 and thats all I could come up with on the spot :(

To make matter worse when I first rendered it, it was rendered in the wrong camera/view so I had wasted around 5 hours of render time! (I didnt notice that I had done that cos I left it rendering at Uni and wnet out for that entire time)

So I had to render it all again but this time from the right camera (which is now what you see)

Give me a couple of days and I will render a wireframe for you all (work is a bit busy at the moment, but keep your eyes peeled)

Man, the number of polys was not that much when it came to the car itself, but as for the wheels and rims, well thats a totally different story. I dont have all the facts in fornt of me atm as im at work, but again keep your eyes peeled for it.

Creating this model took around 1 uni semester, but that was working on it just here and there, basically it was around 2 full weeks to create it.

I am currently in the throws of making a Nissan 350Z! Once that has been completed im going to try and make a short drag race animation between the RX8 and the 350Z... but dont hold your breath for it!

Anyways, keep your eye out for the wireframe render and poly count, I will post it here =D

model is not bad... needs a bit of work though to fix up the shape/ratio, getting some measurements would help a lot.

The video doesn't do the model justice. The materials do appear too shiny, the glass is noticeable as is the paintwork.

I for one like the texture on the body, its very Need For Speed style.

the video doesn't really do it justice. I realise the teture is rush but a lot of people make their cars way to shiny all over. What lighting set up are you usuing, that can be one of the best ways to show off a model.

The model was fantastic, but I think the car would look good in a dark red instead of the current paint job.
On the whole, well done.
So, if you want to know what I think of the model, BRILLIANT!
