Lack of 3d apps in hardware reviews.

Eg this one where they compare 2/4/8GB ram to see what is best in different apps.

Most of the Quad core CPU reviews are the same.

Seriously how hard is it to get the demo of 3DS Max 2009, chuck in a 1million poly model or the max test scene, and hit render ?

I'd be interested in the difference between AMD's quad core and Intel's 2+2 so called quad core. Might have to do that myself, I have access to both but the Intel system keep eating motherboards.

Heh found a review here:
http://techreport.com/articles.x/14424/11

note the Q6600 and 9750 are both 2.4ghz and the same retail prices, so compare those two.

So the Phenom is faster with proper multi threaded software, the reviews use of Max 8 is strange though, I'd think a new version would have better multi threading.

the only problem i had with there being a lack of ram was was when i had to re-format batch renders froma frame #.# to frame #

(# being the number in sequence)

it chaches every fram till it finishes so once you hit you max ram it stops and you start again from the last frame.

thats pain in the arse

Yeah. They should do more reviews of 3D apps. And workstation graphics cards and motherboards. And perhaps they should compare dual Xeon and Dual Opteron. That would be cool.

Hmm not seen many reviews of workstation graphics cards or motherboards. The 3d workstation cards only get reviewed by 3d mags anyway.
