When I watch any avi file with the media player, it's very dark, unable to watch, even when I use other software to watch the file. Is it possible because my codex is all messed up? I downloaded a new media player 11, hoping to re-install and get it worked again, but the one I am using is the latest, I can't even install a new one. What should I do? Thanks in advance. ----- IntelQ6600/Asus 8800 GTX/2G 800mhz Ram/Corsair 620HX/Antec P182/GA P35 DS3P/Dell 24 Ultra-Sharp

Sadly, nope. I have downloaded K-Lite and VideoIan. It's still too dark to watch. ----- IntelQ6600/Asus 8800 GTX/2G 800mhz Ram/Corsair 620HX/Antec P182/GA P35 DS3P/Dell 24 Ultra-Sharp

What video card do you have? If the driver has video overlay settings, you might have your brightness adjusted there too low. This would only effect the video when it uses the hardware overlay (most media players use this by default if it's supported by hardware). ----- http://www.last.fm/user/spielentwickler/

Using 8800 GTX. I have had my computer for about a year now, this has happened before. It's like I clicked on a media file, then it changed all of the sudden. Everything runs fine, but I just can't watch movie in my computer. ----- IntelQ6600/Asus 8800 GTX/2G 800mhz Ram/Corsair 620HX/Antec P182/GA P35 DS3P/Dell 24 Ultra-Sharp

Maybe try getting rid of and changing codec (packages)? That and/or try another video card if you can and you've played around with the video card settings, uninstalled and updated the driver. EDIT: Please let us know how you go. Edited by bu14-1: 26/8/2008 1:13:13 PM ----- The government is not your parent.

Problem has been fixed. It's not about the code, it's actually about the video card setting on color setting, so what I did was download the latest driver, installed, and it's all back to normal now. Thank you all very much for helping out. ----- IntelQ6600/Asus 8800 GTX/2G 800mhz Ram/Corsair 620HX/Antec P182/GA P35 DS3P/Dell 24 Ultra-Sharp
