Does the tweakui applet still show up in the control panel, becuase that's what the TWEAKUI.CPL error message suggests is missing. Try reinstalling it.

You have Norton? Norton what? Antivirus? Internet Security Suite? I would suggest disabling it temporarily, and see if your issues still persist. Norton has become a real pain over the last few years, and honestly, I would suggest replacing it with less resource hogging alternative/s.

The hotmail thing, what browser are you using when you have this problem? Have you tried another browser? It's always possible that the hotmail servers are just over-busy, and it fails to find it.

What are you using for a firewall? Is Norton's acting as your firewall? Disable it, and see if it persists. And have you performed an Adware scan on your system?

Norrton Firewall is well known for being more of a pain than a help. I strongly suggest replacing it with something else, there are plenty of free offerings, lost suggested here http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=2&c=33&t=12

I would personally recommend Avast for anti-virus, and Ashampoo's free firewall works very well, and is easy to use/configure. I use both of these in my XP install (tho I'm primarily in Linux), and they both work great. Both are free, only requiring free registration on the websites to continue using after their trial periods are up. You can continue using what you have if you choose, but I've encountered many people having issues with Nortons, and disabling it usually solves the problem, showing that it is the culprit. Also, it's a bloody resource-hog.

Look in Control Panel, everything listed alphabetically (make sure it's switched to Classic View), and look for something saying Tweak (can't recall exact name, but starts with tweak). The error you describe sounds like it's looking for it, so i assume it was installed once. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx has all the XP Powertoys, look down the left for TweakUI and install it. Also, see if any of the others sound useful to you while you're at it.

I'm unsure about the system-clock rollback bit, I suggest replacing Nortons with Avast (uninstall Nortons, reboot, install avast, reboot) and let it do a full scan of your system. Nortons has been known to miss shit. Let it see if it finds anything. Work on one prob at a time, and work your way up. Try what i've suggested, and report back. If your system-clock issue persists after you've followed my suggestions, I'll look further into it.

HI there, thanks for the great reply... Have only just signed up and paid for Norton for one year so i would prefer not to uninstall, will see how i go, could still use a diff Firewall though..
Found no TWEAKUI in my control panel but did in my add/ remove programs so i unistalled it and the tried to run the ones from the web site you sujjested. There was 2 to choose from and 1 downloaded ok but did not get rid of the box on restart. The other asked me to add files etc to the TEAKUi download which i did not understand .. so am still in same position.

THis is the box= RUNDLL
Error loading TWEAKUI.CPL could not be found.

When i google this nearly all questions relate to registery virises?

Disable Nortons completely, and go here http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ for a free online virus-scan. Let it run thru, see if it finds anything. Like I said, Nortons is not all it's cracked up to be. Used to be a great product, but now it trades more on the name than anything.

Also, try running CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ and seeing if it finds any problems, and let it clean up. Then try reinstalling tweakui again.

As for 2 lots of tweakui on the website, one of them is for Itanium-based systems, which you are unlikely to have, so ignore it.

What graphics card are you using? Do you have the proper drivers installed? Do you have all the appropriate motherboard drivers, etc, installed? How much ram does your system have?
