Firefox overtaking IE?

For several years I've noticed in my website stats generator that Internet Explorer has been the most common browser of choice over Firefox, Opera and others, however just this month I have noticed FF has now overtaken IE visits (to my websites) 43.5% to 41%

I wonder if this is indicative of how Firefox is really doing against IE these days?

Not unless youre a high volume site, I'd say not indicative.

Though I do reckon there's more firefox users around

That matt cutts article is way old.

As I said in my OP, for years IE has been ahead, only this month FF has overtaken it.

I'm managing 4 websites, one with 2000 unique hits per month (uhpm), and one with >7000uhpm, the others in between, each site on totally unrelated subjects.

So that's a fairly substantial cross section of visitors I reckon.

Netscacpe 6.9%, don't understand why use that then the last few Netscapes were badly modified versions of Firefox.

Has anyone noticed however that these stats are mostly taken from "tech" sites. I mean thats got to skew the results at least a bit.

Things changed a bit as the month wore on. Seems like it was a false alarm then.

I do a lot of web-app programming. And I've noticed certain functions seem to work better on IE, others better on FF.
For general browsing - I'm loving FF3, but from time to time I've found it useful to have IE as well.

I have been using a lot of firefox lately at work as our IT department basically love it and have it on everything. personally though i still prefer IE. I just find it . . . I dont know, simpler? accessible?? i dont know. I just do like using IE and I have tried a few browsers over the years.
