Dell 3007WFP on a Macbook

Im both happy and depressed.

I Have a 30" Dell screen that I bought for a ridiculously low price, but want to run it on my Macbook which im quite sure i cant.

30" Displays need Dual DVI input, which my macbook doesent have. it only has a mini dvi.

is there ANY way of rigging this 30" colossus to run from my macbook? Its my retouching comp currently running into a 19" Sony CRT and would love the new friend.

When i first got my macbook, my 19" CRT wouldent display resolution over 1280x1024, but i started using displayconfigX to "unlock" higher resolutions that the screen can handle. Could this app be used in a similar way?

You need either a MacBook Pro or a 24" Monitor. I'm sure many people would be happy to swap :P

Negatory. Sorry mang :\.

You *need* a full bandwidth dual-link full DVI-A/B/D output to drive one of these bastards.

Linux - you're REALLY wanting to get rid of that laptop ey :P

I'd love to borrow it for about 2 weeks while you're trying to sell it, need one while mines being repaired...

Why can't a programmer tell the difference between Halloween and Christmas?
Because OCT31 = DEC25

As the others have said you need a dual-link dvi output to run the 30", but what they haven't told you is you can still run the screen. You need dual-link dvi to get the older generation of screens running at a res over 1280x800 as standard single-link only addresses a single tdms receiver, whilst you can't address both, you can still address one of the receivers. So you can run the 30" @ 1280x800, sure it's not ideal but the image quality is still very good as your scaling by a perfect 4, thus the image remains sharp and clear, just a tad to big. For movies and games it's fine, word processing is a little strange as everything is so damn big. By the way i run a 30" of my macbook pro, works a treat ;)

But wait, there's more. You can't do anything about the internals of the lappy, but you do something about the externals. I know that asus have an external graphics card that happily runs 2560x1600 displays. What i do not know is if the mac is supported both with connectors and drivers. Another option is possibly a usb graphics card if you can find one.

cheers

The Asus Jobbie needs Express Card which the Macbook and Air don't have, only the macbook pro

Good luck getting Dual-Link DVI out of a USB Video card.
