the connector on the power adapter died sand im to lazy to try and fix it. eBay say there are 2 types 45w or 65w both of which they say will do the job, apple website, only shows when searched "ibook ac" a 65w one. mine is a 45w could i run a 65w? the voltage is the same on the amperage is different.

Yes. If a device gives more amperage than another, at the same voltage, the device will only draw as much as it needs. So the 65W adapter will only have 45W drawn.

Higher voltage would kill your machine.

A 65W adapter is fine on your iBook.

It's very likely an issue with the internal connector itself in the iBook
