A guy from work got the 16Gb white iPhone. We gave him shit cuz it's so girly. He should have got the black :P

He queued for 5.5 hours to get it too...

I got the white one, but then I am at ease with my sexuality.

I have the white one too. I never knew I was a big girl. I guess you learn something every day.

So ... anyone else getting a little irritated that the mobileme services still aren't 100% operational?

My old account seems to have upgraded and I can access everything. The new account however is still giving me grief.

I also have to say it's a real disappointment about the lack of cases available for launch.

I spent about 2 hours running around to every major store in the CBD looking for a case. I ended up finding one around chinatown in some dodgy shop.

Calling around to the major Apple retailers was met with the same answer - call back next week.

Bad purchasing decisions all round or something I am missing?

Why would Apple want to sell you a case for something you may drop and break and subsequently need to purchase a replacement ?

MobileMe?

I signed up for the trial, and they said they'd charge my card in 60 days if I didn't cancel

So what did they do? charge my card immediately for something that's been up and down for the past few days, and haven't replied to my email asking "WTF"

True although it's not apple that are manufacturing them plus I would have thought upsell would be the idea for the launch.

Iphone + screen protector + case + cables for hookup to tv + spare charger ...

Not that you would of course want all of these things but if I were selling iphones I would damn well have stock of accessories and would be ensuring my staff were letting people know we have them.

Curse you!

It's going to be at least a few weeks before I get my mitts on a 3G iPhone.

I'm going to get an optus prepaid and use it on my optus plan, rather than signing up with them for another 24 month term. In october my plan rolls off the contract and goes month to month.

I might actually go to virgin, month to month plans and 1gb data for $15 a month.

After getting the mobileme shit finally running and just now getting exchange hooked up I have to say I am loving this phone too.

The only thing that is concerning me is that it seems somewhat temperamental in regards to reception. It can deviate up to 3 bars by moving all of 30cm.

If you're referring to the 3G component, that makes sense. 3G's signal has far less penetration than 2G meaning it's very susceptible to interference especially indoors.

From what I have heard, it seems that Optus customers are experiencing the same issues.

Telstra customers on the other hand haven't been having the same sort of problems. Go nextG apparently.

I might turn off the 3G component for now (using wireless at home) to see if it makes a difference.

I never had the same reception issues with 3G and my Sony Ericsson with where I live.

Which would've probably been able to utilize 900Mhz 3G

2100Mhz would be more susceptible to organic matter

My one on Vodafone works ok, I got the black 16Gb, I am now also an authorised Apple reseller.

In the shop where I work I'm stuck on 2.5G, I found an open wireless network which cuts out 10m away.

I'm not sure but I think it belongs to an Optus shop about 100 metres away, it's in that vicinity that the signal is strongest.

The wireless networking is so good, whenever one is detected it just pops up on screen "Do you want to join ...." if there's no padlock showing you hit yes and it connects, if there's a padlock it asks for a password, once a network has been joined anytime you are in range it just jumps on.

Some of the things are really well thought out, it has to have the easiest to set alarm clocks I've ever seen, anywhere, just spin the time you want on these reels on the screen.

I've got world clocks set up, showing the time in several places.

I Agree,

After almost a year with mine, I must say it'd be impossible to look back.

Some of the apps are awesome. I found one called Midomi, which allows you to name a Song or Artist, sing or hum part of a song, grab a capture of part of a song from a speaker or type it in, then you can pick from watching it on youtube or buying it from iTunes.

I can lie back in bed and say in an imperious Roman emperor-like voice "bring me Nine Inch Nails" and it does.

I am getting glitches after installing many apps, might be rebuild time already.

For example last night while locked the device started playing music and then this morning while unlocking the device rebooted automatically.

pleb: I'm finding that if I do something to it (touch wise) while it's thinking, it hangs. This has only happened a few times, but when it hangs it instigates a "cold boot" which takes about a minute to come good.

There'll be fixes coming hard and fast I'm sure.

Yup,
Starting to look like the 2.0FW was a little rushed, plenty of people have been having lockups with Appstore Apps, debugging has found this to actually be a problem with the OS rather than the Applications themselves.

I'm still waiting for the Jailbreak, and my tax return so I can buy an iPhone 3G!
