I have a mates Toshiba Tecra 8000, plug in & turn on, no lights on front panel & it wont boot.

Every no & then i will plug the bugger in, i get front panel lights, it boots & will run fine for hours, until i pull the ac adapter out & plug it back in- nothing.

AC Adapter is fine, where do i go from here?

Do laptops have a power supply similar to desktops?

Help appreciated muchly.

Hmmmmm me think me no does bold thing right:(

Sounds like the battery is stuff/borked in the laptop.
Try running it without the battery.

Or the battery charging components are stuffed.

Yeah, check those connections. See if there's any corrosion or burnt components around. Hopefully it was just a badly-seated battery.
