Tablet and Slate PC's

This is going to come out of the blue a little, but I was just curious as to how many of you use Tablet PCs, Slate PCs or UMPCs. And I don't mean convertablies I mean REAL slates.

So far I've had:
Asus R2Hv - Brilliant little machine but wacom tablets beat almost touch screens everytime. It's an awesome size as I can throw it in my bag and pretty much forget it's there. 7" screen can be a tad small for actually working on though (and WoW is pretty much unplayable).

NEC Versa T400 - Old machine, but so amazingly thin. Apple certainly weren't the first to market with going slim. Problem was the WACOM tablet started playing up and with no real screen protection I managed to crack the LCD screen.

HP/Compaq TC1100 - Now this is the shizzle. OK, performance wise she's showing her age but it runs all "work" stuff perfectly and can even run WoW at a respectable pace (for grinding anyway, don't think she'd deal with raids too well!)

The TC1100 is by far my favorite as it was designed as a Slate with a removable keyboard...sort of the reverse thinking to current "convertables".

Seems like nobody is really making these sorts of things anyway. For me a "Netbook" or "MID" or whatever doesn't cut it...I need a full PC.

Just wondering what experience/thoughts everybody else has had...

I had the TC 1100 for a number of years. Sadly it died on me due to a crack through the videocard which is an inherant design flaw on its placement and the detachable keyboard hinge.

It spoiled me. I loved it so much, and i will never use a tablet again unless its just like it. But with better engineering. I seriously considered buying another one off ebay but their prices are fusking insane.

Im just going to mod my EEE PC to have a touch screen.

Actually, that's where I got mine from, and I suppose the price was a bit high for a 5 year old machine (given you can get brand new Dell's and Acers for around $700ish...I paid $600 for mine) but By The Goddess I love it.

Best. Portable. Evar. ;)
