Buying A Laptop

Hey everyone,
im looking at buying a new laptop very soon.
Im going to be using it for virtually everything;
gaming, internet, etc.
Its going to be used on the road a fair bit, so a good battery life would be a great addition, but not required as im going to get external batteries etc.
Some of the minimum specs im looking at would be 4gb Ram, dedicated graphics, 17" screen, 250gb+ hard drive, and a fast processor.

My budget is no more than $2500,
if anyone can give me some ideas of laptops that'd be great.

Thanks in advance.
Chris

So, you're after a desktop?

"My budget is no more than $2500,"
Or are you after a medium specced laptop?

I can almost guarantee you will not get a laptop that fits your original requirements that's still portable, and is less than $2500.

Well, I guess we learned something today. It's wrong to eat veal because the animals are so horribly mistreated, but if you don't eat meat at all you break out in vaginas. - Stan Marsh

The only really decent one there is 3k.
A lot cheaper than gaming laptops used to be, but it's still out of the OP's "NO MORE THAN 2.5k" range. QQ

dave, 3k is your choice.

Those 3 I indicated suit the criteria of the op, and probably with the exception of battery life <as it's not stated in the ad> would be suitable.

Actually the last one $2599 would be plus freight/postage added...so it's not really in the op guidelines....
I only included it as a teaser...an extra $150 approx <extra $99 plus freight--$50<?>..>

So yeah, my error.

Perhaps, but I'm not sure how the 9600M will handle itself gaming at 1920 x 1200. The 7950GTX in my dell managed to just get acceptable framerates (40fps) in new games at the time, and for recent games I've had to vastly lower the res and detail (not so much of an issue as I no longer use it for gaming). From the OP's guidelines it looks like he's talking about a desktop replacement, and a 9600M might not cut it is all.

thanks for all the input everyone,
ive narrowed it down to two laptops that im currently looking at.
The Asus M70vm-B1, and the toshiba satellite pro x200.
does anyone have personal experience with either of these laptops?
Both of them are going to do what i want them to do, and as i said battery life isn't too much of an issue, im going to have an external battery with me most of the time!
I'm aware that the asus is very reliable but i havent heard much of the toshiba.
any more help is greatly appreciated!
