i haven't found much through searchign so i thought i'd put the question out there.

I just got an eeepc 4g and just had a few questions about the ram and the battery.

If i was going to upgrade the ram what would eb the best to put in it, its got the easy access hatch on the bottom (i know some of them didn't). It didn't mention in the warrunty wether i was allowed to upgrade ram or not, i know there was a bit of contraversy when they first came out as to wether or not you were allowed to, but i never heard a final answer.

Also what sort of ram is it, just normal so-dimm ddr2 laptop ram or something different?

will increasing ram lawer battery life noticably?

Any reccomended sets to get?

now with the battery.
I was thinking of getting a second or higher capacity battery so that it would last me all day at uni with little need to recharge.
There are alot of batteries on ebay but i'm assumign most of them or third-company/nockoffs that won't last.

Any easy way to tell if batteries are legitimate? (other than waiting till they fail on you)

Any cheap retailers in australia (preferably melbourne) that would sell batteries for the eeepc?

Thanks

Standard DDR2 So-DIMM, anything from DDR2-400 through 800. Just get the 2GB chip, no point getting smaller considering the pricing, anything with a decent warranty (Transcend lifetime warranty stuff from MSY for under $50).

RAM won't make a lick of difference to battery life. Two sticks would drain marginally more than one, but one stick with more RAM uses approximately the same as one stick with less.

Only way of knowing the battery is legit is buy it through an official supplier: http://au.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=0&l2=0&l3=0&modelmenu=0&share=txt/713

thanks for the help with the ram but as for the batteries it seems asus doesnt' want to sell them by themselves, under the eee familly its only the laptops and a search for battery results in nothing found
