@ B82R3S

I got mine yesterday. Works great and battery life is totally true. With regard to Home and uni wireless, I use mine at Monash and they get you to install a separate certificate (Secure W2 TTLS) and it works fine.

Mine however unfortunately has a stuck pixel. I'll be contacting Asus on Monday to see how I go. Anybody what policy on these things is usually?

go through JB hifi or your retail store would make it much quicker and less painless.

With actual monitors some manufacturers offer a instant replacem, ent but most need a certain amount of stuck pixels

if you have a person who you can work in person you will have no trouble since you just bought it

how does the keyboard feel? "Rickety"?

Keyboard feels beautiful, almost full size, easy to type.

I have a stuck pixel too, and if someone else has good luck at JB, I will then go in.

The keyboard I find great, but no where near as the quality on my BenQ S41. The thing is though when you're typing it is relatively quiet (I gauged this by the amount of annoyed looks I was getting as I was typing in a lecture = 0).

Also, there is a video floating around where a woman is reviewing it and shows the keyboard bends on the right side, this is completely true but it does not occur when you are normally typing. You have to put a bit of force on the thing before it does. Funnily enough this doesn't happen on the left side.

The keyboard floats over the heat sync for the casing. Which is why people call it rickety. Its done on purpose so for servicing you can get to the mother board.

If you have an EEE PC i highly reccommend at least visiting these forums http://forum.eeeuser.com/ they are really fantastic and show you how to get the most out of your EEE.

I needed to update the bios out of the box, was defective straight from the start. Apart from the left mouse click being slightly pressed in everything including the lcd screen is A1 on this laptop

The EEEs are really impressive. That 10" with XP just kills other notebooks at the same pricepoint. And JB is a cool place to check it out and pull together a bundle.

This doesn't make a lot of sense. Either sentence. Could you elaborate?

I've been doing a bit of typing on this eeepc 1000h lately and if you don't hit the keys hard enough you end up with the occassional double letter/space. This is only if you're doing very soft typing though, you don't have to be heavy handed, just not completely light fingered.

When you switched it on it skipped past posting and windows asked which hardware profile to use. Every windows startup had the network devices reinstalling.

Updating the bios was done with the asus update program but i still would have considered that laptop to be faulty out of the box.

and the mouse thing, the left click is a bit bent down but i dont mind it and i honestly majorly cbf returning it

Sounds like they gave you a display model or a used/returned model.

Well that forum i pointed to earlier would be your best bet. But if your printer has a USB connection you dont have any problems. If its a serial connection you are going to have to find a USB to serial dongle.

Over the network would be easiest. Share out an optical drive on another computer and install over the network.

make a iso image with imgburn

Copy it to a usb or over the network onto the laptop

mount it to a virtual dvd drive with daemontools.
