lunchbox1988 thinks:

Very interesting read, looks like mobile computing is still leaping forwards.

About the Atomic article Centrino 2 launched

http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/article.asp?CIID=117029

And a properly overclockable mobile processor announced.

What do you think?

Isn't really much of a step from the santa rosa refresh.
1066mhz FSB, up from 800mhz.
and a slightly different wireless card.

I wouldn't be too worried if I had just got a new laptop.

I've only got Merom C2D (T5600). For me, it's a big change.

You just watch... like everything before it, Centrino2 will be exploited with it's hardware level remote administrating... not a good idea to build that sort of thing in considering that Windows already has it's own backdoors...

Ummm...

DDR3 on notebooks now? Is this not teh win or what?

DDR2 667MHz is def a bottleneck on laptops now. That, and so few OEMs sell 64-bit Windows. LOL @ the people that buy the Dell XPS M1730 with 2 x 8800M GTX 512MB cards and 4GB DDR2 with 32-bit Vista...

But for srs, DDR3 is the win. Lower voltage, higher speed. Oh Yeah.

Yea, I hate not having 64 bit vista with mine, but apparently if you have the medium, you can install it with your 32 bit OEM key, but honestly, I am planning to just get a copy of x64 vista through work.

I believe you can get them to mail you a disk for $14 or so lunchbox1988, but I tend to just use the MSDN disks rather than wait for weeks for shipping.

ISOs for the MSDN versions aren't too hard to find and if you're using your legal key I don't see any problems with doing it that way.

EDIT: Oh wow bump sorry, was using the article view.

they should make tricores like AMD but for a laptop. it would be much funner ( mostly because DUO sounds like an ice cream and TRI sounds like pizza)
