Has anyone tried Vista on these?

I am keen to find out how it handles as I would most likely be doing this once i get my 1000H in a couple of weeks.

I swear though, if they put out another EEE within two weeks of me getting the 1000H, there will be hell to pay.

I got the 7in about 3 days before the 8.9in was announced, and was going to get the 8.9 a few weeks back, then heard about the 1000H, so now I am going to get this, throw a 320GB into it and a 2GB Ram module in place of the 1GB.

I'd say Vista would run fine with 2GB of RAM. But I wouldn't recommend it for anything productive.

As above.

It'd work, but you'd be silly to do it. I like Vista and all, but it's designed for a bare minimum of a mid level Core 2 Duo CPU to perform well.

WXP will do almost everything Vista does and be much faster.

Eck, that's more RAM and hard disk space than my ASUS A8Jp!
Since you can't install Vista Starter (since you can't get in Oz), Vista Home Basic is the alternative.
