New non-fancy phone needed

All that is needed really is texting and calling capability. Reliability would obviously be good. Wide coverage would probably be good. No Internet needed. What plans would be good for what amounts of calls sorta thing? I would appreciate recommendations.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks.

Brilliant little phone, will serve you well, *and* has a 3.2mp camera in just for kicks. Can pick 'em up on ebay for about $100.

I an honestly recommend one of these

http://search.ebay.com.au/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37.l1313&satitle=philips+mo

Specifically head very good things about this model
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Philips-Xenium-9-9k-Mp3-FM-2-Months-Standby-Cell-Phone_W0QQitemZ1702551539

You cant get em in Aus, as Phillips withdrew mobile sales in Aus after one of their phones was faulty and killed their name over here.

But yeah.

2 month standby time

And it still has a camera and MP3 player.

If i wasnt such a gadget man, id own one myself. (my phone needs to be able to launch satellites :P)

My Nokia 6300 was awesome - in some ways I regret having to give it back now I have my N95. Small, tough, reliable and you can most likely get one thrown in on the cheapest Voda plans.

...hrm, looking at the Voda website you can get an n73 (larger, but with better camera and spiffier interface) on the $20 Voda cap. Not bad!

You can get the 6500 Slide on that cap too - my Dad got it and I have to say that phone feels more solid than the N95, is smaller with a decent screen size and 3.2MP camera.

EDIT: I think it's the interface that they have loaded, but the 6500 is more responsive than my N95 to do just the basic things like calling and texting.

But get it in your hand first - we can recommend things but if the keys don't feel right you'll just be frustrated in the end.

for basic phone, you can buy plenty new one under $100 with pre-paid offer from k-mart, target, big w, or other big retailer.

if you want with plan, normally need min 12 month subscription

I love my 6220c, very basic design, but really has all the features of the N95 including the 5MP camera. Got mine on a $49 cap with 3, it was this or an N95, I just wanted something basic so I went with this, and it's been great, does talk and text just fine as well as a whole lot of other things which the N95 has which I'm not likely to ever need.
