It came up with the plug into iTunes message, as I didn't have iTunes handy I couldn't test what would happen next.

When I unbricked one with a Telstra SIM, the "Carrier" part of the settings didn't exist.

Yeah... is your iPhone network unlocked? if so maybe you still need to use the itunes activation process?

If you jailbreak it you won't have to do any of that :p

Also, Optus/Virgin + Vodafone have the Cellular Data settings blocked when their sims inserted, which is why I've released patches via Cydia that re-enables editing your cellular data settings (APN etc)
Also, Telstra and Optus have released their carrier bundle updates, so if you're talking about the Carrier Bundles folder or whatever - that's what it's all about :D

Well my PC has Linux inside and I don't fancy jailbreaking from within WINE.

Install VMWare and install WinXP, then route the USB directly to the VM lol

I have an HTC TytnII mobile. I am unable to open email attachments(word, pdf, jpg etc).

Is there some setting I need to change in order to be able to open attachments.

Thanks

First thing I'd check is that attachments are actually being downloaded. By default most phones aren't set to download attachments unless they're under 25k.

Go to "Tools -> Options -> tap your email account" and check the download settings in there.

Alternately you might need to download Adobe reader for your phone.

JPG should be supported I'd have thought.

Cheers.
