Hey folks I have just placed and order for my new rig and realised that I have selected a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS4P for $200

I was initially looking into a X48 DS4 but that was $250 god knows how I ended up with the EP45-DS4 but I have.

My question is will the board play nice with a 4870x2 and are my chances of getting a stable 4Ghz OC 8500 lowered by using the EP45 DS4P? Is the board going to give me any grief the reviews I have read look favorable and I may be able to change the order I just wonder if I need to?

Cheers.

Short answer, you'll be riding at LEAST 4GHz and 4970X2 will be fine.

Long answer - There isn't one refer to above ^^

So no need to amend my order mobo is fine! Triple pimping I just checked and all components are ready to pickup for my IJK order save for my Razor Deathadder mouse which is on backorder.

Dang.

That should be just fine.

They both have their pros and cons.

If you're only going to have one physical video card, then the P45 chipset is the go, as it provides the best overclocking.

If you need 2 physical video cards, then the X48 is what you're after, as the P45 only has 1 full-speed 16x PCI-e slot, whereas X48 has two.

I highly doubt you'll be wanting to add another video card to your system, given you've got the HD4870x2, and by the time you would consider doing such a thing, you'll possibly find the EP45 motherboard gives you a good excuse to upgrade. :)

I think you'll be happier with the extra performance you'll squeeze out of the P45 board.
