Mobo with onboard DVI

Hey all,

Just wondering, who mobos have onboard DVI out on them? I'm building someone a PC on a budget, I'd really prefer to use the DVI rather than the VGA as they've got a 19" DVI monitor.

Edit: Paired with Intel Dual core btw.

Cheers,
c0nc0n

The Gigabyte GA-EG45M-DS2H has onboard DVI, HDMI and VGA :)

But really any G45 based mobo will have a similar selection. Just get the cheapest one with DVI and you'll be set.

+1 to what TheFrunj said about the Gigabyte motherboard. If you want to use an Intel CPU this would be the motherboard to use and the Gigabyte board has a fair bit packed into it for a micro ATX board.

I've actually been waiting for this board to come out since around June to use for a media centre box but haven't had the chance to get it since it came out about two weeks ago. The G45 chipsit also has hardware decoding of Blue Ray (and HD-DVD) video so that will be a + if you get a Blue Ray drive later on.

-edit-
Just thought that it would be worthwhile to mention that you can only use DVI or HDMI and VGA at the same time for dual monitors. ie you can't use HDMI and DVI at the same time but this is the case for (AFAIK) any motherboard with VGA, DVI and HDMI.

Sweet thanks guys, but gah so expensive. May as well get a cheap 8600GT and do the video there.

Or a cheap nVidia 9500GT (which seems to be replacing the 8600GT).

TBH on a 19" monitor the difference would be next to nothing anyway ;-)

Yeah I know but like with DVI being much clearer and stuff.. You can't go wrong. I have to say though, I'm a little annoyed by the lack of choices.

I've got a brand new Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3 that I still haven't picked up. I bought it for $129, if you want you can have it for $100. It's surplus to my requirements now, since I picked up a Gigabyte P45 motherboard.

I've got a GA-EG43M-S2H running for the last 2 weeks in my main quad-core rig. Probably done 100hrs up time no problems at all. No overclocking either.

I've got the original packaging, and can pack it up quite nicely for postage to NZ if you like. I can do postage for $15, for a total of $115 if you like. Let me know either here or via PM.

Well I WAS selling a brand new EP43-DS3, but I'm willing to sell my EG43M-S2H that has seen two weeks use. I'll just swap the 43m out of my machine for the 43-ds3. $115 including post to you, via air mail.

Much clearer? Like I said, there would be next to no difference using DVI as apposed to VGA on a 19" monitor.

Yeah I know. Hmm.. Well I've decided to go for a GeForce 6100 chipset board with 45nm support. It'll be all good. Cheers anyway for offer.

if you're on a budget then consider something like an A780GM-A if you don't have a CPU already and get a Phenom and some cheap RAM.

You can get that board there for $80 and it has an onboard ATI HD3200 you can't really beat it on a tight budget

That board will set you back $80 so even if you pimp for a 9850 you'll still come out on top with a CPU that's on par with a Q6600 it mayn't overclock as well as a Q6600 but clock for clock they're pretty much equal

the latest couple of Phenom quads (9850, and 9950) are decent CPU's that perform equivalently clock for clock vs 65nm intel quads, and with AMD boards being so cheap you can't really go wrong in the budget sector especially when you consider what you're getting with the 780g and 790g chipset.

Compare it to an intel onboard video soloution and you'll leave it in the dust, not mentioning you'll get full aero support for vista, and you'll even be able to play a few games with the settings turned down

if you can still find one, then the ABIT fatal1ty FI-90HD is an awesome mobo. the onboard video (ati x1250 pro) will even play crysis (on low at 1024 x 768)! has dvi through a HDMI --> DVI adaptor.

i think they are discontinued now tho, i sure do love my one tho.
