CERA vs Fat_Bodybuilder's 1M CHALLENGE

Still the comp is unfair to FB, I mean for it to really be fair you would both need identical kits, then the person who has the better score wins fair.

It's unfair for all of the people participating. Cera has the best hardware. The rest who are participating have shit hardware compared to hers. But I ain't complaining :P Hopefully this A-Data ram can tighten itself.

If you want 65nm vs 65nm, I'll send CERA one of my 65nm Core 2 Duos. There's no difference in Super Pi between dual core vs quad core. So if it's all 65nm, there can't be any complaining.

FB: would've thought you'd be a little more gracious about this buddy. Sure she's got some good hardware but you can only OC if you have the knowledge. Knowledge is powa-powa.

A little background for you guys...

CERA = a good friend of mine, youngpro's girlfriend and has spent many sessions overclocking with youngpro as well as helping in sessions with youngpro and me earlier this year when he was living in Sydney. Further more CERA has also helped out by getting in on Team.AU sessions when we all fly to a city and spend a week clocking. Don't disregard and disrespect her saying that she's just using our gear or even getting us to OC for her - she can handle herself. CERA's the best female overclocker in Aus. Simple as that.

Oh, and I think buying pro a 28" LCD so he can bench X-preset on Vantage is a good hardware swap.

1. She told me her BF isn't on Atomic.
2. She said she was a complete beginner and has literally never done it before.

Young Pro is on Atomic.
She's on Team.AU, and the best female overclocker in Australia.

No offence to you, Cera, but, you lied to me :-(

For some reason I feel like a complete tool :-(

hahah your joking right?

team.au is sli_dog, kayl, dino, t_m, moloko, eva2000 and youngpro thats it, full stop, ask any teamau member!

shes been benching under a week, this is her first set of hardware...

she never told you i didnt come here, she told you i didnt come here much, and thats a fact... why would i come here when idiots like you cant even handle being beaten... hell you were probably one of the ones complaining because from teamau were even entering...

do us all a favor and

1. get your facts straight
2. get over the fact not only a girl beat you, but absolutely destroyed your results
3. dude youve been owned

you should feel ashamed making her feel like she has done something wrong, you should be encouraging her instead of trying to justify (or at least try to justify) your really tiny e-penis

I wouldn't REALLY say destroyed, after all her set of hardware is better than ours.

Sure we're all running it at 3.4GHz but in SuperPi it's the memory timings and bandwidth that have a big effect. We can all managed 3.4GHz it's the RAM we use that differentiates us. Her Crucial Ballistix mop our sticks all over the floor. See my point?

And she only destroyed us because of her good hardware.

But I would like to say congratulations to her on her quick learning and great achievement. We'll see the winner this upcoming weekend.

I still haven't had time to tighten my ram...

*sigh*

This thread really could have been something special... sadly that opportunity appears to have passed.

I'm really quite shocked at what has unfolded here.

As a community, sometimes I take it for granted that we embrace in and support one another's trials and tribulations as we strive for excellence. Whether you're actively seeking this excellence or simply floating along the path, we all ultimately have a goal.

For Cera, she started a journey into the wilderness and unknown lands of overclocking. It's scary enough taking those first steps, especially into a realm as specialised and pedantically particular as overclocking.

First and foremost there's the challenge of understanding the necessary technical knowledge and know-how simply to get the ball rolling. Once you've managed to get it going, there's the additional challenge to keep that momentum.

It's natural to find that there will be pressures and obstacles that will go against the grain of this momentum. We all meet these eventually. Often the pressures and obstacles make the sum of our trials and tribulations. But in this particular case, Cera has a pretty huge obstacle in front of her that in most areas wouldn't be an issue. But with this hobby and e-sport being based mostly on the internet tech forums, as well as being a male dominated scene, she was fighting an uphill battle from the start for one simple reason. Cera's a chick.

Yup. No penis on this one.

Due to this, there's two reactions we've witnessed.

The first is one that, in some form of frightened defence,
will try to discredit her. Whether this is done by directly attacking her gender, her legitimacy, her skills or even her friends and associates, it is ultimately one that looks quite poor to those on the outside looking in.

The next, is when someone has their own e-penis stuck so far up their own arse that it's popping out the in-hole - their friends will instinctively be left with the only appropriate name to address them by; Richard.

In the later case, we can only put our hope in modern medicine and therapy. But for the former, we can at least open ourselves to the possibility that, hey, guess what? You actually don't need a dick to overclock.

Just earlier this week there was a thread on OCAU with a shout out for female overclockers to put their hands up. You only need to read through the thread to understand why female overclockers, and no doubt female computer enthusiasts in general, will more often then not keep their gender a secret in online forums and communities.

I had a hope that Atomic could buck the trend seen throughout the net.

Atomic is fortunate to, in comparison to other tech forums, have a rather prosperous number of female contributors. However, it appears that the boys with their overclocked toys still aren't ready to play with the girls - watch out lads, you might get girls germs *screams*

If you haven't noticed, I'm a little pissed off.

There are a few reasons why I'm pissed off. Much of this can be summed up however in some member's inability to:

> give others a go/chance - we've all learnt to be a cynic, especially on the internet, but don't let this overcome good judgement
> believe that females can be good overclockers and to a greater extent, able to be good at anything within a male dominated area/speciality
> open your minds to other possibilities - hey, this person could be a new up and coming talent within the Aus scene; maybe I should get behind them and encourage them?
> accept another's good fortune - be stoked for people when they've achieved great results. Don't pull them through the mud to make yourself feel better
> accept another's skillset and expertise - simple, and Ali G put it best; respectp

There's no denying that I'm friends with Cera - I've already made that obvious in previous posts. But I'm just pissed off at this reaction as a general example outside of the annoyance that it's one of my friends getting stepped on.

It could be said that it's ironic this is happening. After all, youngpro received so much shit from established members on hardcore forums such as XS only to now be regarded as one of the best overclockers in the world - results speak louder than any words. So far, Ceras drowning out the rest.

To get this wall of text finished, though I doubt many of you have bothered to read this far, lets just clear up some quick notes once again:

> youngpro doesn't drop by the Atomic forums very often and with responses like what we've seen here, I can't blame him for avoiding it
> Cera is (well, was) a complete beginner. Yes she may have had some knowledgeable and helpful resources in youngpro and me, but for anyone that has ever benched in a session with us or asked us any questions at live shows, they'll know that we both prefer to point a person in the general direction. You learn nothing by being fed answers or by copying out of the back of a text book (bloody hell I wish I believed this when I was back at school in math class *sigh*). But at no point did she bullshit any results. Heck, youngpro and me would've cracked the shits at her if she tried that. Every result she got was through hard work and understanding.
> Cera is not a member of Team.AU - youngpro has listed the members and these members can also be referenced on the team site @ teamau.i4memory.com

Last but certainly not least, +1 to Virul.

Peace... and enjoy the +9999 dmg from this wall of text.

Although I don't think F_B was targeting her for being female (tongue in cheek?) he does seem to have lost the overclocking spirit. To be fair, he was under the impression that she didn't have access to the resources that she did. Nevertheless, this is no excuse for the defensiveness shown, it's probably best to keep it all tongue in cheek and have a laugh. You have to admit, it's pretty funny. :)

CERA, I look forward to seeing you advance in the overclocking world. We need more people like you representing us. :)

Geez guys I basically haven't touched my setup in terms of overclock or anything, just built it and I'm happy with its performance.

So this is what I'm running. Q6600, Nforce680i, 2gb OCZ DDR2 800. My score 24seconds. I haven't bothered with an overclock due to my 680i and my 7950GT holding my system back it would be pointless.

So what all you guys have is insanely impressive.

Hmmm...

*Thinks about this...*

*Thinks about this more...*

Okay so basically she is a beginner, I got confused this this because:

A. She has pics of things such as dICE pots etc on that photobucket link she showed.
B. "...has spent many sessions overclocking with youngpro as well as helping in sessions with youngpro and me earlier this year when he was living in Sydney. Further more CERA has also helped out by getting in on Team.AU sessions when we all fly to a city and spend a week clocking. - Self explanatory?
C. The voltage that she shows in those pics are damn high, and IMO someone with experience would actually know what they're doing.

So, do you see where I'm coming from? Honestly I'm not a sour cunt as many of you have seen here. The truth is that I'm quite paranoid, I usually am quick to find the hole that would make someone seem guilty for something they have nothing to do with.

I truly am sorry, to CERA and to those that have gotten the wrong end of the stick, similarly to myself.

I would ask that, if possible, we could carry on this competition and still submit results.

Me sorry...
Me Shame...

don't worry FB lets run a real benchmark that uses all 4 cores and see where this ends up ;) you still hold the current record for 3dm 06 on a single 8800 something to be proud of now all i have to do is oc my HD4870 and i will be the winner :P

people can not pass judgement saying how hard it is to oc when they are using all the latest hardware and cooling products that most of us opt to avoid because we want all rounder computers :)

Does he hold the single 8800GT record in the world or Atomic?

I'm here wondering if I hold the Atomic record for a HD3850. I know Dasa has the record for the Q9450 :)

FFS sucks, the shit thats gone over in this thread makes me sick. You all want to know why the knowledge base on these forums is fuck all, look at this thread. The first sign of people who better our own attempts and you rip down there attempts.

AS i said in my previous post my best trying everything i know was about 12 seconds (12.4 to be exact IIRC). I have similiar RAM as does Nessquick to the stuff what Cera has. (In terms of ICs).

Admit defeat and GTFO god knows atomic will be better for it, or congratulate Cera for bettering our own skill sets.

I don't think it has to do with our skills it has to do more with the hardware we run, I am happy with my gear sure its not latest and greatest overclocking chip but it still runs fast enough for me. However I would like very much to get hold of similar parts and see what I could do with them.

With the knowledge base and ripping down attempts I don't think that was really necessary however I have noticed a pattern of whenever there is an atomic based overclocking competition serf~initiates seem to always win and never people who are active members of this forum ie: overlord and up (sorry if this offends some but it has to be said)

Calm down.

Who are you referring to?

I admit defeat easy. (Though we won't know who has the fastest time until tomorrow). But you guys all know I can't pull out magic. Except for the time my P4 640 did 800MHz on stock volts and cooling...

We're are all different. Some of us like to be on top. Others don't care. I'm one of those that don't care. I've been knocked to the bottom so many times I just don't give a shit anymore. Maybe when I grow up, I can be like you or even better.

I look up to you guys as my computer geek role models. Cut the shit and let Atomic be a place of respect, acceptance and pure competition.

And yes I have already congratulated Cera if you are referring to me.

The point im trying to make is that members of this forum have gear that isnt too different to what Ceras using. Yet we find any means to discredit her, granted she has good gear, but as some people here they have more money then skills to go with that gear.

Cera i cant match clock for clock, however id like to see what you get with your CPU at 3.8 please, i cant reach 4.7 ghz or 4 (very well). 3.8s attainable wanna see if i can get similiar pi time at that speed, purely for personal improvement :)
