So far running 8 x 400 :D

Will see if it does 450.

What do I use to monitor temps?

Realtemp combined with SpeedFan for monitoring voltages :)

EDIT: Nesquick it is used for 45nm. Coretemp reports about 10 degrees hotter then Realtemp on 45nm chips. Coretemp can have issues reading Tjunction on all chips.

Ok I gave oc'ing another push this morning and 430FSB seems to be the highest it goes. 430 x 8 gave me 3.44GHz but I'm running it at 425 x 8 so the numbers are nice and round at 3.4GHz and 1700FSB. I'm a little disappointed I didn't get 450FSB but I guess I should be grateful I have a quad. I did try pushing MCH voltages up to +0.1 and it still didn't stop the BSOD'ing. It might be the RAM so at in due time I will get G-Skill PI 1066MHz ram. Will install 3DMark06 now and see the score I get.

I've given 1.3v to the CPU in BIOS but it's probably too much. Will try to reduce volts.

My Q9450 is SLAWR. Box says 1.25v Max. What does yours say Dasa?

just had it running prime for 5 hours at 3.9ghz 488fsb 1.525v which is getting up a bit for 45nm temp peaked at 56c to
it could only prime for ~30min at 1.5v
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y83/dasa09/prime39ghz.jpg

Tech-Kid if ram is holding you back it will show in memtes86+
yes my cpu sais 1.25v max which is its stock setting up to 1.4v should be fine on air aslong as your temps are ok

No I didn't see your post regarding this post.

My Q9450 @ 3.4GHz with a stock Radeon HD3850 managed to pull off 10666 3dDMark06's. Overclock the graphics card and turn off speedstep and I may get 11.5k. And maybe if I can get the CPU to clock slightly higher...

Oh an on the issue of raising NB voltages?

Would +0.3 be safe from its normal value?

Managed to pull off 11336 on 3DMark06.

Expecting 11.5K... :(

Dasa can you run 3DMark06 and tell me what speed I need to get 5800 CPU Marks?

well it scored 5088 at 3.2ghz and i think it scored ~6500 at 4ghz
all untweaked
so id guess somewhere around 3.5-3.7ghz should get you 5800

edit
just tested the x1900xtx out to see waht it could do with a new cpu managed 8533 3dm06 780c 891m
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=7450825

and here is 11.453 pi at 4080mhz 510fsb

I'll have to run the benchmark again with Speedstep off because I got 4909 at 3.4...

And that's a nice superpi time too. I notice you have either set the multi to 6 or it's Speedstep. I've got Superpi at 13.7 with 3.44GHz. On very bad timings too...

Oh and a 13.7 I think is faster than a Q6600 at 3.6GHz. Not sure...

yer i left speedstep enabled but it seems to work rather well so far on this board
as for ram timmings i havent touched them yet just left the main ones at 555 and the rest auto
i tried a divider to run the ram faster but it became very unstable slightly over 1000mhz
it also dosent like me setting the ram to its rated 2.2v

Ok this is just retarded...

You score 5088 at 3.2
I score 4940 at 3.44GHz. What gives?

With GPU clocked 770/1030, I only managed to get a few marks increase to 11371.

Maybe my 3DMark06 is being a f*** to me. Lord knows why. On the CD I got with me 3850, it says there is a hotfix so that 3DMark06 doesn't stall during the splash screen. I highly doubt this will fix the CPU scores... And it doesn't stall at the splash screen anyway.

ram timmings?
fresh windows xp32 install without background programs slowing things down?
edit
just spoted you have vista so thats probably why your score is lower 3dm06 takes a fair hit from vista

Doh!

I see the Q6600 has very weird scores. 3.6GHz ranges from exactly 5000 to 5500 and sometimes even more. I have real temp running when I run 3DMark06 but a lot of other processes like yahoo and msn are also running.

But woohoo stable at 430FSB. Will try for 435 now and do my homework. And temps reached 64c on ONE run of 3DMark06. Should I be worried? And and it was 64c on core 1. Core 2 3 and 4 were 53 54 54.

3.52GHz got 5102 on CPU test. Couldn't get screeny. It BSOD :(

Back to 3.44GHz under some ok temps. 40,34,30,32

Tech-Kid apparently a few quads have a bad temp probe its possible yours may be

6800 cpu score who managed that? i think i was closer to 6300 in that last run

thanks morgoth will look forward to what you can do with it
