But I though he was using watercooling with his old setup. E6600 and so on...

Nesquick nice sig by the way. I'm impressed with your choice of a 4870. But just wait until I get my quad :P I'll have a better sig than all those with a "Q6xxx" in it.

depends you might top out at 3.6 (450x8) is getting high with a quad on any current chipsets also if i had dry ice i could get 4.5 using my far superior 10xmulti :p

Hey Dasa.

The solution to clocking these boards lies in the sub voltages. There pretty picky heres what ive been able to find out. To get decent FSBs from these boards the CPU termination (vTT), CPU PLL, CPU Reference, CPU Reference2 need to be tweaked. Keep vTT voltage below NB volts or you run outta FSB quickly.

Theres also a BIOS template up in case your interested:

thanks for the info PC FREAK

as for cooling the Storm G5 is made by cathar it has a silver base and more jets than the G4
http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=317999&highlight=storm
also my room temp is rather low :)

the gpu block is swiftec
the pump is ehime 1250
rad is a heatercore out of a camry i picked up from wreckers for $35

curently priming at 400fsb 3.2ghz all stock v
cpu is reporting ~1.184v
but to go higher it needs more cpu v so now testing with 1.3v (reporting 1.232)
load temp is now 39-41c

ok cpu set to 1.4v reporting 1.36v idle 1.328v load all other v are set at normal
with those settings it was able to run prime at 460fsb 3680mhz for a few min before i tried for 470fsb
at which point it was unable to complete prime and raseing vcore didnt help so i guess its starting to reach a fsb limit time to do some more tweaking

with 1.4v set the cpu is now reaching 41-46c under load

I will try desperately to beat your 500FSB...

Very unlikely though :( I bet 480 is tops on my DS3P.

look forward to seeing what it can do Tech-Kid but yer fair chance the p35 will limit your fsb overclock a litle
still if you can get 450fsb+ stable you will have a dam fast cpu

Nesquick you have a P35 too haha. Don't expect too much unless you get a shiny new P45 :D

What is so scary is that people need less than 1.5v to get 4.0GHz =O

On the Q6600, 1.5v is needed for 3.6GHz. Or roughly around there...

It's 45nm, the stock voltage is a lot lower.

I got the Q9450 today. Woohoo!

Some numbers will be up tomorrow. I'm not home at the moment. The box is just sitting alone in my room while I'm out... It's lonely.
