I think what you are taking to be a negative thing is not actually a bad thing at all. It’s great that all people from different forums around oz are coming together to atomic for this special event.

What it brings to atomic is enthusiasts with more experience and for the people who want to learn rather than whinge, they will be able to learn by what others are posting during this time. On the internet there are so many places to have discussions on this. Therefore if you are really interested in overclocking you will know the best places to go to get advice.

this brings publicity for atomic and shows how dedicated atomic is at being such a leader in extreme overclocking, atomic members can know where to go and who to contact and during the competition talk about their tweaks for the time. i think you will find people are more than willing to share their ideas and help each other.

Australia has been waiting for this sort of publicity and event for a long time. It should be a good competition. Now sit down, shut up and learn how to tweak :)

Nicely put, however I am not unhappy with the fact that Atomic is attracting new people. The problem I have is that someone will be attracted for the comp and only for the comp. It sounds all nice that the site is attracting new users, but it's when the new users sign up for the fact that they want to enter the comp, but will never actually contribute anything to the site. Basically I don't like leechers, which is unfortunately what this sort of thing does. And there's no way to stop it.

dude. it is an australia wide overclocking competition - it just so is that atomic is hosting it and have put all the effort in to find all the talent in australia.

why do you need to be so protective of your stamping ground? just because you think these people arent a part of the atomic community, it doesnt mean that those people don't read this website daily. learn some respect for the work atomic have done in pulling this australia wide overclocking competition together.

Oh please don't get all high and mighty on me. And don't start making like I'm stamping around. I stated that people will come here and enter and never be seen again, why are you so defensive of that idea? Hmmm? ^_-

ddr3 makes MINIMUM impact on pi 1m, honestly you can win the first round with $500 of hardware and $50 of liquid nitrogen is you HAVE THE SKILLS

what you need to understand is, we put hundreds of hours into this to learn how to do,

i dont go to the national basketball titles and say, well cant we cap the height at 5'11 because everyone else is taller than me... essentially that is what alot of people here are doing, its an AUSTRALIAN WIDE COMPETITION, whoever is the best and is willing to do the most extreme thing will win, thats how it should be..

$50 of Nitrogen? But doesn't a dICE pot alone cost a lot more than $500?

Although you don't need to enter the extreme Part of the comp, Enter the Air cooling section and you could win FB!!

I need to attach another Fan to my Heatsink, :) my CPU is overheating :D

I'll get my Crucial Ballistix soon and then enter.

Even though there is no NZers allowed hahaha. Just hope I don't win coz then I think some people are gonna be upset, but I would like to hope that there is going to be a comparison chart put up after a while.

Yeah, that sounds like the truth, considering you've only just signed up and are only posting in this thread ;-)

I wish I had an E8400 :-( I'd be able to get sub 11 easy. Sub 12 will be hard enough on my bulky Q6600.

But Challenge accepted ;-)

What's your current best? Mine's just under 13 atm.

You're lucky you have a Q6600, i have an E6600 which can't get over 3.7 :( Which means i can't get superPI under 13 secs ATM, i'm planning on getting an E8400 soon, which should carry me sub 10seconds :)

ok fat body builder the challenge is on.

i dont even have a cpu or motherboard or any of that stuff. i am honest when i say i have never overclocked before. once my uni exams are over in two weeks i will begin my learning process then!!!

what category are we going to challenge eachother in? air or liquid nitrogen & dry ice?

I've never played with Liquid Nitrogen and don't intend to for a while as I don't have the money for a pot. So How about air? We could actually make an official thread about it instead of hijacking this one, if you want.

What CPU and mobo do you intend on?

Take my advice and get a Pentium D, they are the best >_>

:P

If you have genuinely never done benching I'd refer to here:
http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=2&c=27&t=520

Overclocking in itself is really easy, it gets hard when you need to start doing minor tweaks etc to get the stability.

Cheers

O okay, I got higher than that with my E6420 but also didn't get lower than 13 seconds. It was 13.291 I believe.

Hi again fat body builder.
I am going to be using the biostar p45 ddr2 motherboard. I will use crucial ballistix ddr2 ram. And an e8500 cpu. I am not sure which air cooler I will use yet.
What hardware are you using? I need to go and buy the CPU.
are you going to use ddr2 or 3?
