lol @ all these people complaining about not being able to enter on their Mum's P4, or better yet cutting edge AMD 3200+ 1337 machine....

Let me put it this way. If you are using one of those boxes for overclocking, and then you use a high end system against any of the other people in Taipei you are going to get owned publicly so hard, and let the country down also.

noobs need not apply

Any E8400, E8500, QX9650, QX9770 system stands a chance to win a superPI competition.
And those E84/85's are pretty cheap and popular.

Thanks Shik, i'll take that welcome as a compliment :)
I am usually checking out the top end stuff here every now and then, i just dont post much

Will we be ranked whether we get into the top whatever it is to get into the next stage?

Would be interesting just being able to see what people have and how fast it goes - whether its uber or not.

Indeed

I think some people are missing the nature of this comp.

most of our systems are not setup for Super Pi shikimaru but more designed as all rounders so a good competition would have been a mix of 3dmark, Super Pi and say Wprime with the results being averaged.

Still missing the point, Josh collins outlines it above,

Have a Go
It doesn't hurt, even if some tard with phase change craps all over you, have a go, this is how everyone starts out

@T_M, youngPro Kayl, don't be a tard, you were a n00b too once, encourage people that want to have a go, they won't win, but perhaps they'll learn something along the way.

errrr i never said anything about noobs, i encourage everyone to give it a go and would never hate on someone for being new to overclocking, ask people from reloaded i sat down with new overclockers for an hour to teach them new things to help them develop,

but if u feel that way, sure...

They've been acting quite rational IMHO.

Hey Shiki thanks for the tip, I stuck the RAM divider on 2 and its alot more reliable. wierd because the auto setting sets it at 2 as well, maybe when you do it manually the system doesn't alter it.

I've had to up the cpu voltage to 1.275, I had it on 1.25 but maybe the heat under full load makes it unstable because it'll work fine at 1.25 cold.

Anyhow this nOob is having fun, it's almost like witchcraft this overclocking business.

Thats not the point Nesquick. The nature of the competition is to push your current CPU and RAM to the limits and see how fast you can get super pi.

Sure some of our systems are all rounded, tahts cause we designed them taht way. We bought stuff to use everday for stuff we use and need everday.

If i had a e8*00 sure id be gunning for this competition. If you want we can start a seperate thread just to see who has the fastest Quad Core on atomic.

hehehe....this gem is staying right here, under it's native cooler. What can you say about a cpu that a nOob can take to 4.2 with next to no knowledge. It's dynamically oc'd to just under 3.7 and if I can figure out a way to load the cores up before the core speed climbs I might see if I can't push past 4.2. Imagine 4.6? grrrrrr.......
