I use all the Pcie busses on my motherboard what is the best soundcard for PCI? These will go to an amp which will then go to my custom speakers.

Does your amp have a digital input? If so, anything thats stupidly cheap but does 5.1 and has a digital output will do.

as digital is just 1's and 0's so it doesnt matter!

Give us a dollar cap.

This would be my preference though.

Or this is cheaper....

Otherwise I'd look at a more pro-audio card like this.....

Or it's grown up brother.......(which I haven't tried yet).....

But once again, as long as it has Digital, cheapest card you can find with digital out. Let the amp do the rest.

He hasn't said wether his amp has digital out because he hasn't bought it yet.
Most decent amps don't have it anyway.

His amp only needs digital in, the soundcard needs it out.

also, most decent amps dont have it? Thats a fair enough oppinion, but in mine, i'd say a decent amp would have its own DAC's rather than relying on whatever shit ones i feed it. (hence digital) eh.

each to their own though friend.

MS, there aren`t too many 2 channel amps out there with Optical in...not much need for it, hey?

I`m sure BFG`s custom speakers are only stereo. I guess he needs to decide whether he will go 2.1 or 5.1 further down the track.

That's what I've been pointing out.

A good soundcard's converters are usually better than some dodgy 'surround' system's converters.

I disagree, most creative cards seem to work well. especially the xfi series.

But i miss what you're exactly asking.

are you after a card that does SPDIF output? and wondering which is cheapest or what?

ok but be carefull because your sound card will tell the amp what to output.

so if you want DTS you will need a DTS sound card ect,
this also relies on your amp decoding DTS ect.

the ampp dosnt convert just relays it too your speakers.

Um... Why hasn't the Auzentech Prelude been suggested yet?
It beats the Creative stuff at their own game by using the X-Fi processor, it just doesn't come with the remote and stuff like the Platinum Pro, but it sounds better. It also does Dolby DTS processing on the fly.
I love mine :P
