HI
Has anyone here bought the new Creative PCI-E sound cards yet?

http://au.creative.com/products/welcome.asp?category=493

They look nice, just wonder if they're any good thats all. I've had Creative sound cards in the past and they were quite good, I didnt have any problems with them. I know that ASUS and Azunetech have similar cards for roughly the same price.

Not yet.
Everything seems better on the PCI-E bus though.

Hmmm. I think I'll skip this iteration and wait till the next one - not because they've gotten bad reviews, but because I haven't seen many reviews out yet. I might go fish for some now.

Are there any new groundbreaking features for these Titanium ones, besides using the PCI-E slot?

Yes I believe that the groundbreaking features are their big gay Fatality stickers on the cards themselves :), they've been blessed with those stickers so they can charge us more for them. HOwever I reckon they look pretty cool with the mesh over the capacitors, etc.

Well, we have one up for review. Check out the next AtomicMPC.

I'll say at this point, it was surprising.

I wish Jake Carroll was here.
It would be interesting to know how to tell a PCI-PCIE bridge card from a native.

The INQ said X-FI Titanium was native unlike Xonar that was a PCI-PCIe bridge:

Usually better dynamic range and signal to noise ratio over the entire audio spectrum.

There are good quality sound card in the market now. When choosing you must first see the specification and capabilities of that equipment and later decide what to choose.

Lol, they have been learning from Auzentech, Asus and Bluegears etc, that their current cards just don't cut it in the current Market!

Auzentech FTW!!

+1 for the Auzen prelude!

Serious question: if you've already got a decent PCI soundcard is there any benefit to upgrading to a PCIe one? I mean, is the greater bandwidth available to soundcards over the PCIe bus actually going to be used in the near future?

Just curious, as Dolby Digital Live 5.1 blah blah super ballsy audio sounds pretty good out of my PCI Auzen prelude as is.

Anyway, fuck creative. I've thrown my lot in with Auzen. Those guys care ab out audio.

/gazes lovely at the Prelude PCB. It's teh seks yo.
