The microphone on my current headset died so I need a new headset (old one is no longer under warranty I assume).

So I went over to http://www.headphones.com.au and had a look at what they have to offer. I checked out their recommended headsets and there are only two ( http://headphones.com.au/pbrowse?catID=1&subCatID=16&sort=recommended )
I don't really need USB because I have a good sound card but maybe it could come in handy in the future. I'm guessing these two are about the same in terms of audio quality when using the 3.5mm connection except the MMX2 has a frequency response of 18 - 22,000Hz and the has a frequency response of 20 - 18,000 Hz. I think the DT234Pro is discontinued because when looking on the company's website I couldn't see it listed. I have a feeling people are going to ask what it is going to be used for (I don't know why though; why can't you just get accurate audio reproduction), so the potential uses are: gaming, music, various video and Skype-like stuff.

So at the moment I leaning toward the MMX2.

I don't know much about headsets/headphones (or speakers for that matter) so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I have tried a few different types and have settled on razer barracuda. they are 5.1 headset. Some think they are ricdiculous , but I luv em. i have them plugged directly into x-fi xtreme gamer fatality sound card in 5.1 speaker setup. i use them for gaming and music and they are excellent for both (IMO). PC case gear has them for $139 and both the headset and AC 1 sound card for $225.

You can try Plantronics Audio 770. Very good sound quality and comfy to wear.

Thanks for the replies.

I had decided to go with the DT234Pro but I thought I wouldn't bump the thread.

Thanks anyway.
